The first phase of their plan as she says is not within the political realm, but the realm of knowledge and thought. Their alliance is not advocating for a world without the West, rather, there is an open invitation for the West to accept its own “decolonization”. I think it’s wrong to keep describing Louise Haigh MP as a convicted fraudster.
She committed a crime 13 years ago. The crime she committed, for which she received one of the lowest possible sentences - a conditional discharge, does not preclude her from doing the job she has been appointed to. She made a mistake and she should be allowed to move on from it.
Those in public life should be showing that those who have committed relatively minor crimes eventually have a route to a successful life without stigma.

I think there is no policy which more encapsulates Lanyardism in Parliament. It pretends being an MP is a job, it wants that job to be that of a superannuated local councillor, it wants bureaucrats to monitor and oversee MPs. It wants no colour life - or challenge.

It certainly changes everything. It makes being an MP utterly unattractive to anyone who runs a business and doesn’t want to give it up, to lawyers and doctors whose experience will inform their votes, to writers and others who might inform the public realm.

Om naar de sportschool te gaan, moest je je zonder vaccin eerst laten testen (kost ongeveer 40 minuten van je dag). Als je in de sportschool corona kreeg van iemand die gevaccineerd was (het was al bekend dat zij het ook konden hebben en verspreiden), dan zou jij de volgende week positief testen en niet meer naar de sportschool kunnen, maar de besmetter nog wel. En naar een café, een restaurant, de film, in het vliegtuig etc. Er is niks gedaan om het vertrouwen van de mensen die dit hebben meegemaakt terug te winnen: degenen die vinden dat je je lichamelijke integriteit simpelweg had moeten opgeven en een vaccin had moeten nemen dat je niet wilde, bepalen nog steeds de status quo.

@jinijane_ Het is ook niet alsof discussies over vaccinaties nieuw waren. Tot 2020 was de algemene opvatting dat een keuze alleen vrij is, als er geen uitsluiting plaatsvindt als gevolg van weigering. Door druk vanuit de politiek ging dat weloverwogen standpunt in één klap van tafel.
