@Trynith_Nebula@HoCpetitions Yeah it will absolutely get worse. The engineer that spoke essentially outline a nanny state where they have access to everything and will limit what can be viewed.
They already mentioned misinformation so imagine they'll only allow you to see gov approved content
@KIDBASSMUSIC@HoCpetitions they are 100% going to tighten the noose on this act, VPNs are the next target.
AI is an issue and needs its own, specific regulation, its causing issues far bigger than discussed here.
@Trynith_Nebula@HoCpetitions OFCOM is currently trying to sue 4chan, as they refused to pay the fine. It's crazy that they think they can regulate a US company
@KIDBASSMUSIC@HoCpetitions id love to know what gives OFCOM the right to be the international police for these sites. i'm in no way defending X or whatever, but if a US site hosts porn or whatever, for US users, what gives ofcom the right to impose law or fines on them?
@Trynith_Nebula@HoCpetitions Yeah I think that would be good to actually know what's going on.
Well this definitely not a "debate," We're listening to an echo chamber from people who are completely out of touch with reality and have no sense of protecting people's rights to freedom of speech or privacy
@Trynith_Nebula@HoCpetitions Exactly why are we not supporting parents. They have the most influence over their children. Instead they want to parent all of us!
The net is already pretty regulated. They're asking for over regulation. We're supposed to edit every and all content so it hurts nobody's feelings
@KIDBASSMUSIC@HoCpetitions mr pritchard there openly stating a conflict of interest. "We should enforce these rules, and i have a team making tools for it!"
A regulated internet is safe and open? it absolutely is not.
All i am hearing again, is that parents need to be doing better.
@HoCpetitions This is laughable as a debate why were only MP's invited to talk about this? This is the problem you have over 500K people affected and you have a room of 10-15 people talking about it?
@Trynith_Nebula@HoCpetitions Exactly why is there no one arguing a counterpoint here. There are so many parts to this law that it can arbitrarily enforced. All it's doing is making it impossible for small businesses to grow and risking adult privacy and opening us up to fraud from putting our data everywhere
@HoCpetitions i'm listening in and i'm not hearing any debate at all. no actual considerations to the points raised in the petition.
You just all harp on about AI and children.
Drop the bullshit act and focus on enhanced parental controls.
i can stop my son looking at a boob myself thanks.
@HoCpetitions The core intent is to protect children. Why has it being implemented in such an overbroad way to affect adult freedoms online where political debate is being censored and age gated. Handing our future to large corporations stifling startup innovation
@HazmatMcQuack@Tomlongbottom_@BoxingKingdom14 Even if someone's getting completely demolished I expect unbiased clean officiating. If it's found in favour of Dubois the least he deserves is a rematch. He'll probably lose, but boxing is a joke if we don't give boxers a fair shot just cause we don't believe they'll win
@KIDBASSMUSIC@Tomlongbottom_@BoxingKingdom14 The thing we do know is that he did wiped the floor with him. If it was a closer fight I would agree but he doesn’t deserve a rematch. It wasn’t “unfair” officiating.
@CaptainMaakasu@Tomlongbottom_@BoxingKingdom14 I've never seen a rule that states part of the glove. When I was boxing things were judged on the center line of your hand. So your middle knuckle. But I can't find anything that really clears that up
@HazmatMcQuack@Tomlongbottom_@BoxingKingdom14 A rematch would probably end the same with another Usyk win, but it's the least Dubois deserves. The decision had a direct effect on the outcome. This was always the problem the assumption that Usyk would wipe the floor with him created unfair officiating
@KIDBASSMUSIC@Tomlongbottom_@BoxingKingdom14 Now that would be a controversy. Over turning or forcing a rematch when the opponent was outmatched the entire fight is wrong. There is an assumption he would have not got up
@HazmatMcQuack@Tomlongbottom_@BoxingKingdom14 I don't really care tbh. But I disagree that it was low. Anyway we'll see what the appeals say. People have gotten decisions overturned. It'll be up to them to decide
@KIDBASSMUSIC@Tomlongbottom_@BoxingKingdom14 It is up to the red to establish it at the beginning. He didn’t but from the video and different angle the punch was a low blow. It was borderline but it was a low blow. You are going to have to deal with it.
@HazmatMcQuack@Tomlongbottom_@BoxingKingdom14 The ref is suppose to point out what is ok at the beginning, he didn't. The WBA rule says that the navel to top of hips define the waist. It should be the same regardless of where the trunks are. A punch on or above is legal. It's not up to the ref, it's a clear definition
@KIDBASSMUSIC@Tomlongbottom_@BoxingKingdom14 The written rule you shared didn’t say that. It’s the refs discretion to establish the low blow area when the trunks are worn high.
@JhusLeftarm@MichaelBensonn@boxingontnt The rules clearly state though that where a boxers pants sit has nothing to do with whether a blow is legal or not. If the pants are sitting high and the hit is on the navel then it's legal. The pants don't matter. wbaboxing.com/officialarticl…
@CarltonEChase@Tomlongbottom_@BoxingKingdom14 I get where you're coming from, but it's a big what if. If Usyk was given a count I definitely would not be here saying any of this. I'm not a Dubois fan. I just know that the fight wasn't carried out in a just/fair way and kinda robbed a younger boxer of changing history.
@KIDBASSMUSIC@Tomlongbottom_@BoxingKingdom14 This is true, but I do not believe that punch would have ended the night for Usyk. I think people get excited over stuff like that, but I have seen fighters take worse and continue. He simply agreed with the ref’s call to make recovery easier. It happens. 😄
@CarltonEChase@Tomlongbottom_@BoxingKingdom14 Truth be told even if a fighter is terrible throughout the match. One punch is all that's needed to turn things around. In this case Dubois got his one punch. I'll give it to Usyk he was in trouble and used the rules to his advantage to ultimately come out with the win
@KIDBASSMUSIC@Tomlongbottom_@BoxingKingdom14 The other thing to keep in mind is that Dubois seems to be disregarding the rest of the fight, saying he got robbed of victory. He landed that shot in the 5th round. He STILL had 7 rounds to end Usyk if he is the better fighter. He is not. The rest of the fight proved that.
@CarltonEChase@Tomlongbottom_@BoxingKingdom14 I disagree Usyk was fully winded i.e. struggling to take a breath. When that happens even the best boxers can lose. Even if he did pop back up. He'd have been in huge danger
@KIDBASSMUSIC@Tomlongbottom_@BoxingKingdom14 I agree. His hand was still in motion in the other shot. It looks close, but clean. But, at best Dubois was robbed of a knockdown. Nothing more. Usyk took time to recover because he was allowed to. If the ref started counting, he would have been back up and fighting quicker.
