(5/17) It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Cheryl C.M. Siran as a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario in Kenora. An alumna of @umanitoba and @umanitobalaw, she was called to the Ontario Bar in 2006.

This might be one of the most absurd things I have ever heard somebody say. No, the judge who heard and saw all of the evidence tested in open court should not apologize because the police said in a secretive report that their buddies did nothing wrong. What. On. Earth.

Thunder Bay is the canary in Toronto’s cop mine. TPS requests to the inspector general include investigating management, oversight, evidence handling, digital file authority & tampering. These are the defining characteristics of systemic problems. You just heard about TBay first.

Maybe I need to say this louder for people in the back: if you are going to oppose so many people's release on bail, you had better properly staff bail courts accordingly.

Respectfully disagree. As a woodlot owner in NS, I can tell you firsthand: the forest floor is like tinder right now. You can feel the heat rising from it - just waiting for a spark. Our province is small, and communities are tightly woven into the woods. One fire here doesn’t just burn trees, it can jump roads, wipe out homes, and trap people fast. We don’t have the buffer zones or firebreaks that larger provinces often do. A short-term ban on recreational access is inconvenient for sure, but it’s also smart. One careless step could cost millions and devastate lives.

Yes, Canadian wildfire smoke has been plaguing air quality in parts of the Midwest, Great Lakes, and northeastern US. However, it's been relentless and downright toxic near the source. Thompson, Manitoba has recorded 574 hours of smoke so far this year.

The Walton family, that inherited half of Walmart’s stock and is now worth over $400 billion, should not be allowed to pay wages so low that their workers are forced to rely on food stamps to survive. And yet, Walmart is the largest employer of workers on food stamps in America.

Fun fact: did you know that if you've booked a plane trip with @WestJet with a reasonable one-hour layover, they can unilaterally change your ticket without explanation to make that layover twenty-one and a half hours. And then, they can refuse to provide you with any meal or hotel vouchers and instead just expect you to sit in the Detroit Airport for an entire day to wait for not the earliest available flight (that's only twelve hours away), just the one they feel like putting you on. The receptionist kept putting me on hold to speak to her manager but, per the way these things go, when I asked to speak to the manager she explained there was no manager and no one I could possibly talk to. I explained that, with nowhere to sleep and not a lot to do that I would be devoting my night to seeing just how many customers I could lose WestJet from my Twitter account. I asked the receptionist if maybe she should see if that was okay with her manager; that was when the whole "no manager" thing came out. So, what say you folks? Do you want this to happen to you, your airline just adding an entire day to your trip without notice, compensation of any kind whatsoever? @michaelgendron Criticism of Crowns is perfectly legitimate in a democratic society. Its the nature of the attacks that are the problem. Poilievre etc are suggesting that Crowns are directed by politicians - ie., the Liberals. That is not only constitutionally ignorant and wrong, its corrosive.

That feeling when the judge finds multiple Charter breaches but declines to exclude the evidence under 24(2).
