@DocumentingBTC @jack As a business who has had the capability to accept BTC since 2018, the problem is not the merchant apps being able accept BTC…the problem is zero consumer adoption..almost nobody owns a web3 wallet or a lightning wallet.

Stripe launched a blockchain and crypto's reaction was... excitement and almost awe? Tempo is centralized, tightly Stripe-controlled, and that should bother people. And yet the energy around it is genuinely positive. That tension is the story. Stripe now controls Bridge (settlement), Privy (wallets), and Tempo (the chain). Two years ago that would've been absurd. Tempo is built for payments. Pay fees in stables, not a new token. Log in with Face ID. No seed phrases. It works the way normal payment apps work. MPP (Machine Payments Protocol) launched alongside it for agent payments: > Agents spend continuously, settle once, rolling thousands of micropayments into one transaction > Supports both crypto and fiat via Stripe's full payments stack > Compatible with x402 but goes further by design MPP shipped with 100+ services on day one from OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity. People are tinkering all over the timeline so builder interest is real, but actual onchain metrics remain QUITE minimal. The centralization tradeoffs aren't going anywhere (for now). But to dismiss the diligence of Tempo's design and the ease of integrating with its toolkits would be wrong. So here we are. David Christopher broke down the full picture.
