This is a pretty dishonest framing of what’s actually happening. There is no ‘Democrat DHS shutdown.’ This is a funding standoff over how immigration enforcement is handled, not whether DHS should exist. Democrats have already supported funding most of DHS, TSA, Coast Guard, FEMA, Secret Service, to keep the department running. Republicans rejected that. And let’s be clear: asking for guardrails after agents shot and killed two Americans isn’t ‘open borders.’ It’s basic oversight. Democrats aren’t trying to eliminate DHS, they’re trying to put conditions on how enforcement works. That’s not the same thing, no matter how many times you repeat this lie. Also, the Senate already passed a bipartisan bill that would have reopened most of DHS and paid workers. House Republicans refused to take it up. So claiming Republicans are the ones ‘fully reopening’ the department while Democrats are blocking it is backwards. Senate Republicans agreed with Democrats. What you’re calling ‘defunding’ is actually a disagreement over policy and accountability. Calling it ‘open borders’ and ‘protecting criminals’ is a lie. Stop lying to the American people.

Donald Trump called mail-in voting “mail-in cheating” on Monday. That same day, news broke that he just voted by mail in a Florida special election. His polling place is a 15-minute drive from Mar-a-Lago. He spent the last two weekends there. He mailed it anyway.
