Expect more to do the same.
For much of the Conservative Party there is really no difference between them and the Liberals.
They hate standing up for social or cultural conservatism, so of course they get a party of wishy-washy, stand-for-nothing opportunists.

Mark Carney is seizing a costly Liberal majority that voters denied him, and doing so through backroom deals.
In January, MP Gladu said that floor crossers should face voters in a byelection to give voters the final say. I could not agree more.
She should do so. The people in her community voted for our Conservative vision of a Canada that is affordable, safe, and strong at home, not for the costly Liberal government she has now joined.
She should honour her word and let voters decide.

I don't think the spate of floor-crossings says much about the opposition parties or their leaders. There is always going to be malcontents (Gladu, D'Entrement) and opportunists (Ma, Idlout) sitting on the opposition benches.
But they say a great deal about a prime minister who is willing to use the power of the state to entice those MPs to join the government, overturning the results of the last election.

Things seem to be seriously awry in the party. The leader needs to answer to the party’s supporters.

I don’t think most of the chattering class understands quite how damaging floor crossers are to democracy.
These floor crossings will change the outcome of the 2025 election and invalidate the democratic decision Canadians made to elect a minority government.
This sends the message to voters that their vote doesn’t matter.
And when we get to a place where voters feel democracy is illegitimate, we enter a very dark place.
