GOOD RIDDANCE! At best, the private security stood around doing nothing, at worst they caused more problems. The contractor and its owner should be blacklisted by the city from future contracting. CPD should patrol/monitor CTA. @SEIULocal1 @ChicagosMayor

BREAKING into @fox32chicago: SEIU confirms that CTA has suddenly laid off 159 private security guards. The notices came on Friday. "We aren’t giving a comment yet, but we can confirm that 159 Local 1 members employed by Monterrey Security were laid off. These officers helped keep the Red Line, Blue Line and several garages monitories and safe." This comes as Springfield passed legislation providing $1.5 billion in new funding for public transit, including beefing up security and public safety.
