Today marks eight years since the #Rohingya genocide. This poem by a Rohingya poet Austin Jani honors lives lost and underscores ongoing calls for justice, accountability, and dignity for the Rohingya people.

THREAD 1/6 In a new Jugantor interview, #Rohingya spokesperson Nay San Lwin says: if 🇧🇩 & the #ArakanArmy (AA) strike a deal that truly reflects Rohingya wishes, a pilot return to Arakan could happen BEFORE Eid 2026 & the AA would gain global legitimacy in the process.

Since the morning of the 17th, Bangladeshi news channels have been broadcasting footage of ARSA operatives being arrested in Mymensingh - a location far from Cox’s Bazar. I mean very far! The reports showed two young men, two burqa-clad women, and children being taken away, surrounded by RAB. Rumours also circulated about the capture of Ataullah Jununi, though no video evidence surfaced to confirm it. Then, about six hours ago, a blurry photograph appeared, showing Mv Mustak and Ataullah Jununi close to the camera, with RAB in the background. Is it real? The answer: don’t know. But in a curious coincidence (or not?!), Fortify Rights is holding a meeting in Dhaka on crimes committed by "Rohingya Militant Groups".

Dacoity and kidnapping have increased across the Rohingya refugee camps. In the past few weeks, many horrifying cases have been reported, and the video footage sent to victims' families, threatening them to pay the demanded ransom, is extremely disturbing. Some children are also facing such brutality. This has now become a serious concern for the safety and security of the Rohingya refugees, and immediate action is crucial to stop this cruelty; otherwise, the situation in the camps could deteriorate further. #rohingyarefugees #safety&security #refugeeslife #endkidnapping #savethechildren

UNHCR Failing Rohingya Christians Facing Death Threats? When a Rohingya Christian called the UNHCR hotline seeking protection for his community after receiving explicit death threats, this was the dismissive response he received: UNHCR Staff (paraphrasing):
"Protection is the responsibility of the Bangladesh government, CiC, police, and APBn. UNHCR can't provide protection or go there holding weapons. Inform the APBn or CiC." Instead of empathy, the response was cold and bureaucratic. Basically passing the buck without offering meaningful solutions. To repeat my earlier post: •Stones are being thrown at Christians in Camp 27 •Fatwas calling for executions are circulating. •Entire families are living in terror. What kind of answer did your hotline give considering the circumstances @UNHCR_BGD? The Christian refugee and his community are terrified. They are asking for safety, NOT WEAPONS. Here is the full translation: UNHCR Staff: CiC, police, and APBn can provide protection, but UNHCR can't. You came to Bangladesh? So, protection is only provided by the Bangladesh government, CiC, police, and APBn. Only the government can provide protection. Refugee: We are not in the main camp. We are in the Transit Center. UNHCR Staff: Listen, it doesn’t matter where you are. Those who are not Bangladeshi and came from Myanmar—protection is the government's responsibility. Inform them. If you have any complaints or allegations against a specific individual, you can tell me, and I can take it as a report. If you feel you cannot inform the police, then inform the CiC sir. However, UNHCR can't provide you protection by going there holding weapons. Refugee : I am not asking for weapons, we are in a state of fear, we need protection.

Threats Against Rohingya Christians in the Refugee Camps of Bangladesh This inflammatory poster is part of a disturbing campaign targeting Christian Rohingya in the camps. False and dangerous accusations are spreading in WhatsApp groups, alleging conversions and blasphemy. The consequences so far: Violence: Stones thrown at Christians in Camp 27. Interrogation: Several Christians detained and interrogated by the police. Fear: Entire community living in fear of imminent attacks. Peter Saiful, a human rights defender and spokesperson for Rohingya Christians, is now facing explicit death threats alongside others. Their photos have been circulated with fatwas calling for their execution.

Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain repeats Bangladesh's long-standing 'ticking time bomb' narrative: '200,000 Rohingya boys who see no light at the end of the tunnel, they will become desperate, and desperate people do desperate things.' Yet Bangladesh’s own policies—barbed wire camps, denied rights, neglect, and allowing armed groups to operate with impunity in the camps—are creating this very desperation. A dangerous self-fulfilling prophecy.

Assad has fled. A humiliated tyrant who made the honored Syrian people into a global refugee story while murdering hundreds of thousands at home. Today your joy is our joy oh Syria. May Allah give you just rule and prosperity in the days ahead. And may every tyrant fall. Ameen

Bangladesh’s treatment of new arrivals betrays the principle of non-refoulement and basic humanity. doctorswithoutborders.ca/msf-calls-for-… Rohingya fleeing Myanmar's violence arrive in Bangladesh only to face neglect and misery. Overcrowded camps force them to share dwindling rations and live without shelter, water, or sanitation. Children under five are malnourished, families fear exploitation, and women and girls face heightened risks of abuse. MSF reports refugees are too terrified to seek help. They live in constant fear of being forcibly returned to the atrocities they fled in Myanmar. War-wounded and traumatised, their plight is compounded by delayed registration and a humanitarian response starved of resources.
