The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has admitted to a technical error that compromised the integrity of the results from the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in 157 centres nationwide. Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB registrar, during a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, said the results of over 387,000 candidates were affected.

I recently came across several complaints from students who wrote the JAMB exam, expressing concerns about their poor results. Some even claimed that the results they received were identical to those from a previous year’s exam, which immediately raised red flags.

The aim isn’t just to point fingers, but to urge educational stakeholders to take a closer look and work towards improving the integrity and reliability of CBT systems in Nigeria. It’s a necessary step toward ensuring a fairer and more credible future for our education system.

logic work, I decided to dig deeper. I reached out to a couple of my OGAs to discuss the issue and get their insights from a technical standpoint. Together, we examined what might be going wrong behind the scenes.
