@abba_xm_ @BashirAhmaad Critical situations call for a critical approach. Any innocent souls shot should be taken as collateral damage. While I agree that security agencies should make arrests, investigate, and prosecute these miscreants, it is good to take decisive measures to immediately contain it.

Peace must be protected, yes but “shoot on sight” is dangerous and can easily be abused against innocent people. Security agencies should arrest, investigate, and prosecute anyone causing violence or chaos according to the law, not act outside it. A lawful society is stronger than a trigger-happy one.

As the social crisis (fadan daba) continues to deteriorate daily in Kano metropolis, there is a pressing need for Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf to convene an emergency stakeholders’ meeting in order to thoroughly assess the situation and find workable solutions to address it.

In Kano, even if you do not align politically with Sen. Ibrahim Shekarau, the former Governor of the State, you must acknowledge and commend the way he handled the lingering fadan daba (social crisis) during his tenure. When he assumed office in 2003, the crises were intense and deeply rooted, but before the end of his first term in 2007, Kano had become relatively calm and stable. I sincerely hope Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf will compare notes with the former Governor and explore workable approaches to finally end the recurring crises in our dear state.
