As the Catholic Bishops of Uganda continue their ad limina visit to Rome marked by a pilgrimage to the four Major Basilicas ,yesterday they visited the Basilica of St. Paul. Today, they proceeded to the Basilica of St. Mary Major where they also paused in prayer at the tomb of Pope Francis. "Ad Limina" Visit is a short form for "ad limina apostolorum," meaning "to the thresholds of the Apostles." This is a periodic pilgrimage and report made by Catholic Bishops from each country all over the world to Rome, during which they venerate the tombs of St. Peter and St. Paul, meet with the Pope, pay visits to various Dicasteries and present reports on the status of their Dioceses.

LATEST: Government has given bus operators 60 days from 8th April to 8th June 2026 to voluntarily present their buses for inspection to ensure they are safe and fit for the road. The pronouncement has been delivered by Hon. Fred Byamukama, the Minister of State for Works & Transport [Transport]. The exercise will start with buses on the Northern and Eastern routes. The same exercise will later be extended to trucks and trailers, a move aimed at reducing road crashes resulting from vehicles in poor mechanical conditions. ⚠️Safer Vehicles, Safer Road Users, Safer Journeys!
