The big mistake Iran made was that they could have had Article 5 protection afforded by Russia. If that was in place, Israel and the US would never have launched a single missile strike on Iranian territory.
If Russia has made it clear that in the event of either the US or Israel attacking Iran, that would have resulted in Moscow declaring war on those aggressors, do you imagine that what we have witnessed since 28th February would ever have happened.
The answer is emphatically no.

Oil is very likely to surpass $100 Monday opening. If this happens, that will be the closing pressure mechanism of the final act. I expect it to drop from there. It’s where the boundaries are pressed. This is the price point that should make every player’s dominant strategy flip towards a ceasefire simultaneously. That’s the price where the short positions live. That’s the price where Trump faces a gun to his head with domestic emergency. And I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Iran’s assembly of experts have fast tracked to formally announce their supreme leader in 24 hours. Either a moderate in line with the pragmatic faction, or a magnified hardliner. We are either very close to a ceasefire, or we’re about to be sent off-script and descend into chaos. My position remains unchanged.
