A fierce contest is unfolding in Rukiga District as two young politicians Michael Kwarikunda and Simon Mutebi face off for the district’s top leadership position. Kwarikunda, who served as a youth councillor [2016- 2021], narrowly lost the LCV race to NRM’s Mbabazi Kakwerere in 2021, a result he later claimed was stolen by selfish individuals. He now believes the time is right to take over the top seat, though the journey remains challenging. Standing in his way is Simon Mutebi, a relatively new face in Rukiga politics but one who enters the race with the advantage of holding the NRM party flag. The two youthful, energetic aspirants have already begun exchanging verbal jabs as they each boast of their capacity to steer the struggling district toward progress. @mugishamuntu with all due respect, General, the very teachings you reference also stressed discipline, command structure, and the importance of context. Selectively invoking history to suit emotional appeals doesn’t strengthen your argument. The CIC has consistently exercised caution and restraint even when others have tried to stir public pressure for political mileage. Let me also ask you this: when @mkainerugaba is insulted, mocked, and publicly belittled have you ever issued a single statement condemning that behavior? Or is your outrage reserved only when it aligns with a particular agenda? If the buck truly stops with the CIC, then so must the responsibility to act with clarity not with knee jerk reactions to politically convenient outrage. Leadership isn’t about echoing noise; it’s about standing firm on principle. And finally can you, with full integrity, apply the same rhetoric used by your fellow opposition figures toward the President or his son? Or would that expose the very double standards you now accuse others of?

To the CIC Gen YK Museveni. May I implore you to be guided by your own teachings over time about the recklessness of the past armies ( UA, UNLA) , the consequences of their actions & impunity. You are the CIC. The buck stops at your doorstep. Act. It is never too late.
