🇵🇰 Pakistan: Military Crackdown on Pro-Palestine Protests Leaves Scores Dead (Possibly Over 1,000) Ryan Grim reports a mass killing near Lahore after Pakistan’s military opened fire on supporters of the far-right Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) movement during pro-Palestine protests. The crackdown coincided with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s trip to Egypt to attend the Gaza ceasefire summit and praise Trump as a “candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize.” Grim explains the massacre is a result of Pakistan’s military rule: security forces—backed by Washington—used the violence to deter protests against normalization with Israel and to reassert control at home. Witnesses described hundreds of bodies left in the streets, later removed in trucks. Media coverage in Pakistan remains tightly censored, allowing officials to signal the terror domestically while minimizing international backlash.
