Golf Australia has today taken another important step in securing the long-term future of the Australian Opens, partnering with the South Australian Government to secure the redeveloped North Adelaide Golf Course as a long-term host of the national championships. The agreement will see North Adelaide host an Australian Open every year from 2028 to 2034, including three men's Australian Opens and three women's Australian Opens. The first men's Australian Open at North Adelaide will be staged in 2028, marking the first time the Stonehaven Cup has been contested in South Australia since 1998. #AusOpenGolf

@GolfweekNichols Maybe travel it around the world? It’d be a massive event in Asia -which deserves a major given the number of great players they’ve produced in the last 30 years. Take it to where it - and Nelly - would be properly appreciated.

BAD idea!! $50 million to convert what is already green space into something that will not more than cover the cost of maintenance like the golf course currently does smh.com.au/national/nsw/f…

@EvinPriest Not a huge fan as constantly changing announcers but it does have some benefits increased focus on international players. Might make more sense for early rounds and not so much on final rounds. I miss the main CBS team when they would otherwise be covering the tournament

After 10 events, what do Aussie golf fans think of the PGA Tour’s World Feed on Kayo Sports?

It's funny how TV commentators in the U.S assume all Australian golf is like sandbelt golf. The five best courses in Adelaide are similar, as is Lake Karrinyup in Perth - but nothing else is.

On his honeymoon in Queenstown, Cam Smith called Jack’s Point, booked a tee time, walked in, paid the green fee, a rental set, sleeve of balls and glove. Pro shop and greens staff were chuffed when he posed for plenty of photos with all the employees 😂 australiangolfdigest.com.au/cool-story-of-…

@Booners05 @ChrisMinnsMP You cannot get as many people on a 9 hole course compared to an 18 hole course. And this course is full most days.

We’re transforming part of Moore Park Golf Course into a huge new public park. We’ll repurpose 20 hectares of land into a new central park for Sydney - for all to enjoy.

@Rod_Morri Yep. No way as many people will use the “new” park as this course.

"But beyond Moore Park think about the bigger implications of this announcement. No matter your preferred recreation or leisure activity, think about what it would mean if you were told it had to be sacrificed for the ‘greater good’." - @Rod_Morri golfaustralia.com.au/feature/morri-…

Now they come after one of the busiest courses in the country. Ok - but they should commit to making not one of the best 9 holes courses in Australia (that’d be easy) but one of the best in the world. And if public golf isn’t ‘grassroots sport’ I’m not sure what is.

I’m proud of our men’s and women’s cricket teams, who have both won their opening two #Ashes matches against England. Same old Aussies – always winning! Australia is right behind @ahealy77, @patcummins30 and their teams and look forward to welcoming them home victorious 👏

@adamliaw And the hypocrisy from the England coach, also as it happens and ex-wicketkeeper

Yet we're expected to litigate the idea that wicketkeepers should not immediately throw down the stumps WHILE THE BATTER IS STILL IN HIS CREASE in case the batter (who happens - incredibly - to also be a wicketkeeper) takes it upon himself to idiotically stroll down the wicket.

Day 5 of the Lord's test was brilliant cricket. Stokes immense, Australia rattled but recovered beautifully, and the only controversy around Bairstow's stumping is why a wicketkeeper would be so dopey over 1 of only 3 ways a wicketkeeper can get wickets. smh.com.au/sport/cricket/…
