To @realDonaldTrump, @POTUS, @AGPamBondi, @TheJusticeDept, @ICEgov, @FBIDirectorKash, @FBIDDBongino, Tom Homan, and any others out there in the Government. There are MILLIONS of us waiting to see any ramifications of this type of blatant illegal behavior by officials nationwide. I, personally, and may speak for many, that we're sick and tired of seeing this BS go without accountability. President Trump, I am losing faith in your justice department for the failures of any accountability for this lawlessness. We are seeing NOTHING happening for this clear interference with Federal Law enforcement. I try to think that Justice is doing their due diligence, but the longer this goes on, the more I believe that Ms. Bondi is not effective in her position. I have no idea who would be best to replace her, but I'm losing faith. I understand that you inherited a complete disaster left by the previous administration and most of us don't really know the absolute depth of the destruction the Biden (3rd Obama) administration created. I'm proud that you're doing your best to fix their mess. But, from the Justice side of things, many of us are losing patience. I do continue to pray for your success. And to borrow a phrase (forgive me)... Thank you for your attention to this matter.

@TheEXECUTlONER_ When I took driver's education, we were taught to take control of the intersection, that way, when the light turned yellow, you could make the turn.

This man finds it extremely aggravating when you are in a left hand turn lane and the car in front stops at the white line. He says you pull into the middle of the intersection and take control of the intersection and wait there. If oncoming traffic doesn’t let up, you turn as the light is about to turn red and oncoming traffic stops. Many said that defensive driving classes tell you to stay behind the white line until you can make a turn and have a safe exit and this causes accidents. He says that any CDL class will tell you to take control of the intersection and pull up to the middle of it, that way everyone isn’t waiting three rotations to get through the light. What do you do? How do you drive? Do you stay behind the white line or do you pull into the intersection?

@TomABacon @igorbobic True. But in this day and age, seems to me there's too many people over the top. As we said at the beginning, there's too many people that lack civility and I appreciated our discussion.

@KangofSeattle @igorbobic Fair enough. But to return to the original point... White House renovations have always been controversial. Trump has introduced a whole new reason for controversy. Which is why this is being debated so heatedly.

@KangofSeattle @igorbobic I think you're missing *my* point, though. On every occasion, renovations have been conducted with congressional oversight. Never according to the whims of one man. The source of money is irrelevant. The question is: Who owns the building, and who has the say?

I'm not disputing there were requests for funding on those projects, there were requests becasue the GOVERNMENT was paying for it. I think you're missing my point. This was DONOR funded, so no funding requests were needed to congress. My entire point was that this $1B extra was requested by someone else as part of a package to fund Secret Service, in addition to other DHS funding.

Other presidents have made modifications to the White House and no one has ever complained. The primary issues currently are frivolous legal actions simply it's because it's Trump. Moreover, no permits are needed for White House modification. I can see that we will disagree on this topic. Personally, I'd like to see it completed.

@KangofSeattle @igorbobic He doesn't own the building. It doesn't belong to him. He's literally knocked down a wing of the White House, without bothering with anything as basic as planning permission. Genuinely, to me, it's pure vandalism.

@TomABacon @igorbobic I would agree if this was to originally be taxpayer funded, but it wasn't. And, as I pointed out, it was being funded by donors. This additional money is not based on any request by Trump.

Not knocked part of the building down and only thought about the legalities later. I know he's a human wrecking-ball for convention, but this is a little bit too literal, y'know?

@KangofSeattle @igorbobic Well, the obvious example lies with all the things the Trump administration has cut; for example, the courts judged the termination of BRIC to be "an unlawful executive encroachment" on Congress' spending authority. The National Endowment for Democracy was also controversial.

Basically, Trump indicated that the ballroom would be donor funded, and that's accurate. Grassley and other Republicans have tried to get additional funding as part of the overall DHS funding that Democrats continue to block, and, not surprisingly, with the pathetic Secret Service, it makes some sense. The $1B has only been proposed, and to blame Trump directly for this request is disingenuous, at best. $200M for additional security in the ballroom, which will benefit ALL future presidents, not just Trump, is probably overall worth it. Secondarily, IMO, the ballroom is a necessary addition, even from an aesthetics perspective. It's been needed for many years. It's more secure, overall, even without any of the $200M additional funds, than outside tents, and much better for foreign dignitaries.

@KangofSeattle @igorbobic So, basically, the ballroom is costing taxpayers $220 million. Not "nothing," as Trump promised. And that is the issue here; he began a project, promising no taxpayer costs, and... now there are.

@EmilySm43 When I lived in Thailand, I showered 3 times a day. Morning, afternoon, and evening because it's too damn hot. Funny, it's common as a cultural thing there. Now, I occasionally will do two times per day. Still more from being a habit.

@TomABacon @igorbobic As many people are fond of saying, all money is fungible. However, I haven't heard where allocations have been diverted to other non-allocated expenditures. If you have an example, I could look into it. And, honestly, previous administrations throughout history have been worse.

I appreciate you not name-calling as so many others tend to do these days. I appreciate considerate discourse. The $1B was proposed by Chuck Grassley and Republicans as a broader immigration/border security reconciliation bill. This was earmarked for the Secret Service for "security adjustments and upgrades" (above- and below-ground) related to the East Wing project and White House compound. However, only a portion, approximately $220 million, was specifically for fortifying the ballroom itself. The overall ballroom renovation is privately funded. The rest was for broader Secret Service training priorities (and it's quite obvious that they need it), and other security measures. The total $1B was not for just the ballroom.
