I was honored to meet with members of the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and several families whose children are pediatric cancer survivors. We discussed various issues that impact the care and treatment of children facing cancer, including H.R.1262, Give Kids a Chance Act, which I am proud to co-sponsor. I was so inspired by these families & those who do the heroic work of caring for them as they battle this horrific disease. The health of our precious children will always be one of my top priorities.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with the Roswell Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center to discuss the current landscape of healthcare and the importance of supporting medical research to improve the health and quality of life of people living in Western New York.  Health disparities have persisted within communities of color in Buffalo, and cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and NIH funding will only increase these disparities and hinder people’s ability to treat genetic and chronic diseases. We must provide compassion, relief, and hope to patients and populations who are being consistently overlooked and denied comprehensive healthcare. We must defend and preserve federal health assistance programs that are effectively bridging the gap between coverage and care.
