I assume, after reading it, that this was done to paint an overwhelmingly chaotic and negative narrative about the President and our team. Broadcast TV stations have always been required by their licenses to operate in the public interest—that includes serving the needs of their local communities.
And broadcasters have long retained the right to not air national programs that they believe are inconsistent with the public interest, including their local communities’ values.
I am glad to see that many broadcasters are responding to their viewers as intended.

I want to thank Nexstar for doing the right thing.
Local broadcasters have an obligation to serve the public interest. While this may be an unprecedented decision, it is important for broadcasters to push back on Disney programming that they determine falls short of community values.
I hope that other broadcasters follow Nexstar’s lead.
