E o próprio Tolkien escreveu versões contraditórias das narrativas de várias coisas e personagens, tem coisas "canon" (publicadas durante a vida dele) que ele alterou depois em anotações, a maioria dos debates que eu vejo é de gente que não leu nada disso e só assume coisas

+ something I’ve never understood is the whole ‘canon vs non-canon’ debate (between non lorebros). Tolkien’s characters are so nuanced and sometimes full of gaps that I’ve read thousands of theories that even contradict one another, yet somehow both felt right to me

I think the criticism of his era is louder because the tired old thing of ‘Capaldi was good the writing was bad’ ‘Whittaker was good the writing was bad’ just doesn’t apply to such a tonally bizarre performance from Gatwa that only served to expose such poor writing more plainly

@EvanKelmpIRL it's fine and enjoyable, and people that go on about "deviating from the source material" or "not respecting canon" usually have a pretty limited knowledge of it as well and just want to complain
