@ChuckHellebuyck @JRansomWright Inside car temps during the .au summer are above 45c, and battery-based dashcams die after 1-2yrs. Capacitor-based units last much longer, but if you live in a more mild area it might not be as relevant.

@JRansomWright Sounds more like marketing BS to me but I’d have to know more. A capacitor just stores energy after being charged not a true power source like a battery. But super capacitors can release short bursts of power quickly so are helpful to batteries in some applications.

Instead of a battery, this DashCam I purchased has a Capacitor for power. Curious if this is the way of the future, just a unique solution solver or a random idea. Thoughts? Concerns? Have you seen it before?

Vague-post, but I was at a con last weekend and caught up with some really remarkable, senior, respected people in infosec of whom a surprising multitude are ready to quit their jobs because of poor management and poor leadership at their organizations. It is really shocking.

@BenSong I think it's a little bit of the sharing excitement around the bub, combined with "look at me" overtones, and a big dash of one upmanship.

Why are gender reveal parties a thing? Serious question, no judgment. Ok, a bit of judgment.

@KarmicIT That’s even worse. Who defines a “threat to the border”?

Apparently, while Australian Border Force cannot legally compel you to tell them your phone password, they can retain your device for 14 days if you refuse to comply. If you do tell them the password, there’s nothing stopping them copying the entire contents of your device.

@_Just @BenSong Yes, mid-April I heard for online sales. Given popularity it may take a while for delivery but these are not time or numbered limited editions so you will get them eventually!

Sadly the Omega x Swatch Moonswatch can only be purchased in person. Does anyone in Sydney or Melbourne want to pick one up for me? 😞

@daveaglick @isaacrlevin @sayedihashimi @Microsoft The cost of hiring a single person is something ridiculous like 20k, and then you have the cost of upskilling them (and the time that takes) at your company. Its insane. I've asked for 10k payrises that were knocked back, quit, and companies proceed to spend way more hiring.

Lot's of people are leaving @Microsoft in the past several weeks. I talked to two people exiting today, and they mentioned getting about 30% higher compensation. I love working at Microsoft, but 30% is pretty significant.

Had our Global Sales Kick Off this week. Woke up to some lovely messages yesterday for winning SE Rookie of the Year in my region. Feel very honoured but super grateful for my team who have helped and supported me through my first 10months 🙇🏻‍♀️😊

@JonathanWade I'd first go over the vendors (or internal developers) documentation to see what DB backend they support and/or recommend, then select based on how those options fit into the client's cloud platform of choice
