Seb's cricket journey has been amazing with CAG selection and now the opportunity to tour with England AICE U13s EPP to India. The costs of supporting his journey are significant. He would appreciate any support towards getting to India #cricket

£47.5m is more than double Everton's breach that led to a Premier League record sanction of 10 points being deducted (it was recalculated to 6 on appeal)
While this is a different charge, the commission said EFC "gained no sporting advantage" but still agreed a deduction.

Updated: Chelsea receive £10.75m fine from Premier League for secret payments to players + unlicensed agents during Abramovich era. £47.5m spent off the books to sign Hazard, Ramires, David Luiz, Willian, Eto'o, Schurrle, Matic. thetimes.com/sport/football…

From sitting on the floor in non-league to walking out at the Theatre of Dreams, all in just over a decade.
I remember sitting on the grass at Wealdstone because the bench was full, waiting for my chance and hoping for a moment to prove myself.
Last weekend, after a long layoff, I was sitting on the bench at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
It’s funny how life comes full circle.
I know some players get frustrated being on the bench, and I get it. I felt the same way during the first few months of my Sunderland career.
But sometimes, you need to pause and realise just how far you’ve come.
I’ve played in the Ryman Premier, Conference South, League Two, League One, and the Championship.
Social media can make it look like every player’s journey is smooth, like we’ve all got it figured out.
The truth is, we don’t.
In every league I’ve played in, I’ve doubted myself.
Wondered if I really belonged.
That’s just being human.
No matter the level, my approach has never changed:
Play football.
Did the match go well?
Brilliant. You worked hard, it paid off. Smile, enjoy it, and go again tomorrow.
Did it go badly?
Brilliant. More lessons to learn before you level up.
Then take a step back and understand why you made that mistake.
Ask yourself: What would I do differently next time?
Then show up the next day with the same smile and the same hunger, but now with more knowledge — because you faced your mistakes, owned them, and learned from them.
That compound effect, learning from every mistake big or small, is what separates progress from standing still.
You’ve got to build a healthy relationship with mistakes if you want to grow.
For me, that’s been the key 🔑

Ndiaye, Grealish, Alcarez, Dewsbury-Hall, Dibling, Barry. New stadium, spending money - the future is bright.

Scored the last goal at Goodison Park 🥹 Scores the first goal at the new stadium🤩 Iliman Ndiaye has truly written his name into Everton's history books ✍️ 🔵 #BBCFootball #EFC

3 years since just 1 match and Tom L being amazing sparked a love for cricket. Fitting that on his way to play at the King's Festival, he gets to see the player who sparked the love of the game #Somerset 💯💥 @TomLammonby @SomersetCCC

@ManchesterOGs Monday, he was signing autographs for the kids after the game. Amazing

In amongst the disappointment, a word for Jos Buttler. To be able to perform at a high level, whilst dealing with the grief of losing a parent is quite something. Lots of nonsense is spoken on this platform, but Jos deserves nothing but the support and respect of any cricket fan.

Jos Buttler gets his half-century in some style 💥👏

@simonhancock_uk @NoThirdMan Agree my son now faces a year out of a system he has enjoyed and thrived in. His teammates at ind school will continue to access high-quality coaching and matches at their schools. More state school coaching on top of CAG and a layer under CAG is what is needed.
English

@Kate99704720 @NoThirdMan This is what compounds the problem that Rob is talking about. It's very hard to access coaching if you're not in a private school, so every year out of the system is another year you fall behind and at a bigger disadvantage when you come up against them in a trial.

#TFTD It's highly unlikely that there is a kid playing County Age Group cricket that is from a state school, a late maturer, born late in the year (Mar-Aug) & who doesn't have some genetic advantage (e.g. height) BUT if there WERE then they're probably FAR MORE likely to make it!
English

@NoThirdMan Generic regional coaching hubs aren't going to help him. He needs in order to keep up with his ind sch teammates coaching/matches against kids of similar standard. Counties' hands are tied - a multi layered approach with CAG remaining would be better.
English

@Kate99704720 Brilliant!
I guess he can still continue to develop & learn within the new EEP environment though.
English

@NoThirdMan CAG age 11 born mid Apr, state school (not even grammar), average height and skinny, took up cricket 2.5 yrs ago with no background. It can be done it just needs supporting. Now, he has to take at least 12 months out of the CAG system as the ECb stopping it for his age group !
