Admist the chaos and drama of news, I'm proud to be the first hijab-wearing woman on an official Olympic broadcast in Canada. I am acutely aware that my sisters in France do not have access to sport in the very same country I'm covering. I intend to amplify those stories i'A.

@DevineSean @DavidHillWard3 I gathered over 2,000 signatures on a petition from Ottawa residents supporting this kind of initiative before the pandemic. I even did a policy paper. We got blown off by city hall. I think I still have it if you would like to see it. Calgary did it successfully.

Glad to see my colleague ⁦@DavidHillWard3⁩ is trying to push new ideas for pollinators. I’d be happy to work with him on my proposal to plant pollinators/wildflowers/micro-clover along medians, instead of costly and climate unfriendly turf grass. cbc.ca/news/canada/ot…

Gutted. Absolutely gutted to learn of Ed Broadbent’s death. Aside from his accomplished political career , he and Lucille were wonderful friends. With the greatest of respect to Ed, may he rest in peace. #cdnpoli

I interviewed Donovan Bailey @donovanbailey on CBC Radio airwaves today and 1996-me (and 2023-me) were delighted! His memoir’s out soon: “Undisputed” 🏃🏿‍♂️🥇

Finding humour in horrible things, including #dementia. Canadian comedian Gavin Crawford is telling the story of his mother’s life with #Alzheimers disease in a new podcast called Let’s Not Be Kidding. Q+A by @ianhanomansing cbc.ca/player/play/22… via @CBCTheNational @TVGavin

@Spazzy_Sabby Hi! This is awful! I’m with CBC Ottawa and we’d like to connect when you’re able (I realize you’re going through a heck of a lot right now!) Please feel free to reach out. I’m at Kate.Adach@cbc.ca. (Also, would we be able to run this video amid our flood coverage?)

My dad passed away this week. He was a kind, decent and wicked smart man, who chose to live his life with an unwavering and at times pathological optimism, believing unconditionally in the value and potential of public service. We can learn a lot from him. vancouversun.com/news/local-new…

In our research we found that women were told they were too young to lead, too old to lead...and middle age wasn't quite right either. As it turns out no age is the right age to be a woman leader. See my latest @HarvardBiz article for solutions. hbr.org/2023/06/women-…

@ambermac @MitzieHunter The strong mayor powers are tools for the mayor to pass his mandates and bylaws incase he has total council opposition We elect the mayor to get things done, not a council to block his agenda

#Toronto I strongly oppose Ontario's strong-mayor powers. Like @MitzieHunter says, "the next mayor might find the prospect of overruling council seductive because it might make their job easier, but it is wrong to undermine democracy under the guise of getting things done.” Your thoughts? If you don't know what this is about... "The new rules enable the mayor to pass bylaws with the support of just one-third of council and to veto council decisions not supported by two-thirds of members if doing so would advance provincial priorities." thestar.com/news/gta/2023/… via @torontostar
