Sweden has the odd PhD tradition of Lutherishly nailing your thesis to a wall a few weeks before your defense, so here is my PhD student Vidya Somashekarappa nailing her thesis into the designated thesis nailing wall (officially required btw).

Jessie was one of Ruby’s best mates. In year 10 they hatched a plan to one day be PM & Deputy PM. In year 11 they were appointed head girl & deputy head girl at their school, @TCSDulwich - & they joked that this was the first step on their path to #10 🧵1/n

Giving a talk or presentation? Here's some excellent advice - four ways to crush it: 1) Understand your audience: "What do really want to know about my topic & why does it matter to them?” 2) Practice "structured improvisation": Most speakers are either "scripters" (stick to a pre-prepared script) or "wingers" (wing it). Be both. 3) Strike a balance between data & stories: Based on the needs of the audience 4) Set a goal to educate or provide insight, not impress: it's about learning for the audience, not about you. insight.kellogg.northwestern.edu/article/want-t… Via @KelloggSchool.
