In Dnipro, a Russian attack killed at least 2 people and injured 9, including 2 children. Emergency services rescued 6 people, including children, and extinguished fires in a damaged 13-storey residential building and other sites.
Russia continues to target civilians, bringing destruction, pain, and suffering to Ukrainian families. Only coordinated international action – strong pressure, sanctions, and timely support for Ukraine’s defence – can weaken and stop Russia’s atrocities.

“Chornobyl” is the only correct spelling Ukraine asks the world to use.
Using Ukrainian transliterations respects Ukraine’s language and culture and moves away from Russian forms that were imposed by Russia during the Soviet era. It is also part of a wider effort to decolonise language and correct long-standing imbalances in global usage.
Using the correct transliteration for a place in Ukraine affirms recognition of Ukraine as a sovereign state – a fact Russia tries to deny.
We welcome the decision of states and international organisations to adopt the Ukrainian spelling of Chornobyl, including in the UN resolution of December 10, 2025.
Like Kyiv, Chornobyl reflects Ukrainian pronunciation and thus aligns with the global practice of updating place names for linguistic correctness. The successful shift from the Russian spelling “Kiev” to the Ukrainian “Kyiv” is a clear example of this trend.
All Ukrainian cities deserve to have their names rendered correctly.

Russia's unlawful deportation and forcible transfer of Ukrainian children is one of the most horrific crimes of this war.
We are working with international community to reunite children with their families and hold perpetrators of this crime accountable.
On May 11th, in Brussels, Ukraine, Canada @AnitaAnandMP, and the EU @kajakallas will organize a High-level meeting of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children to advance these important efforts.
We urge all states, international organizations, and non-governmental actors to join forces for these important efforts in order to ensure a safe return of Ukrainian children and accountability for Russian crimes.

The Chornobyl disaster was the result of a reactor experiment ordered by Moscow, in violation of safety protocols, and followed by lies and cover-ups. To this day, the world has to face consequences brought by a totalitarian system that subordinated truth and science to ideology and political power.
▪️ In total, 8.5 million people were exposed to radiation.
▪️ Over 145,000 square kilometres were contaminated, with radioactive traces recorded across several countries.
▪️ 10 kilometres around the plant will not be safe for 20,000 years.
▪️ Over 300,000 people were forced to leave their homes forever.
▪️ The disaster created costs that lasted for decades, from contaminated land to damaged infrastructure.
As Russia continues to threaten global nuclear security, the world must unite to prevent another disaster.

On International Chinese Language Day, we recognise a language that for millennia has carried wisdom, knowledge, cultural memory and a distinctive civilizational tradition. The Chinese language bridges the past and the present, opens the way to a deeper understanding of culture, and creates space for meaningful international dialogue.
Ukraine highly values the role of language as a bridge between peoples, cultures, and generations. Where there is respect for language, there is a deeper understanding of the world.

In just the past 24 hours, Russia launched attacks on Dnipro, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Kryvyi Rih, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, and the Donetsk region. In Dnipro, five people were killed. In Cherkasy, a Russian attack killed an eight-year-old boy. In Zaporizhzhia, one person died after a Russian strike on a bus stop.
Ukraine’s top priority is air defence cooperation. Joint production of air defence systems, missiles, and drones, as well as the PURL programme, which provides vital anti-ballistic missiles, are essential as Russia continues its combined attack tactics. Thank you to our partners who stand with Ukraine and help protect lives.
For every Russian strike, there must be a strong response.

On April 13, 2025, the Ukrainian city of Sumy experienced one of the darkest mornings of the full-scale war, when Russia launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles at the crowded city centre. It was Palm Sunday – a day when many families were out in town.
35 people were killed by Russia and over 120 were injured, including 18 children. Among the victims were an 11-year-old boy and a 17-year-old teenager 🕯
One missile hit the congress centre of Sumy State University. The second struck nearby, close to another university building. It also struck those who had run outside to help the wounded after the first hit. A city bus was caught in the blast, and many passengers died.
One year later, we honour the memory of those who were killed and stand with their families in grief. Yet remembrance alone is not enough. Russia continues to target buses, streets, universities, parks, and homes. The world must act – to support Ukraine and to ensure Russia is held responsible for its crimes.
