When you come home from work, what do your kids hear? “I spent all day in meetings with idiots,” or “You won’t believe the problem we finally cracked today…” When my kids were young, I’d come home buzzing about an experiment we’d run or a crazy idea we were going to try the next morning. They didn’t understand the details, but they saw that work wasn’t something I endured. It was something I got to do. Kids are always watching. Always listening. If they see that work is something adults dread—a necessary evil to fund the weekend—that’s exactly how they’ll approach it. But if they see you genuinely engaged, even energized by your work, they’ll grow up believing that hard work isn’t drudgery. It’s something people are lucky to have.

@KarenMillen 2/2 For my last return they have claimed they have only received 2 of 5 items I returned via @InPostUK and are stating they will not be refunding me for the lost items! This is not the customer experience of a reputable company. I will be taking this further.

1/2 @KarenMillen starting with the positives. My experience of ordering and delivery of items has been without fault. Unfortunately, the returns have been a completely different customer experience from the app not having a record of returns, 4wks+ for credit refunds.

After just 10 days in hospital, I have enough new cells (still only 0.4 neutophils) in my body to go home this eve. I need a lot of healing time as every single cell in my body has been replaced. I'm brand new! Your support, messages, love, hope and care has carried me. TY ❤️

Breaking cycles? Or reconfiguring, reshaping, reimagining different ways of being. We don't have to carry the burden and responsibility of 'breaking' or failing to break cycles, but rather we can gently accept that we may have reshaped the path going forwards generationally ♥️

I've never felt comfortable taking too much credit for anything I've achieved in life (even though I recognise my own unique qualities and propensities for connection, enthusiasm and risk taking) because we don't do it alone. We don't. They is no 'self made'. Its nonsense. There's us. Take the PhD. I wanted to let that go a number of times, but I couldn't let the participants down (for me... not ever) and I couldn't let you down because you were there constantly asking how it was going, desperate to read it because it will help your work. I wouldn't have even done it if I hadn't been accosted by 3 women academics convincing me I should. This is what a successful life looks like; it's the people, the warmth, the kindness. That's the life goal. Find your people and break bread with them and fly.... ♥️

Great to have landed in Birmingham in my new role as Chief Executive of the Children's Trust. Big thanks to everyone for giving me such a warm welcome. Lots of challenges in the s114 context, but will keep relentless focus upon children and their needs.
