@owroot I have a D1X with what I think are Nikkor lenses from the 1980s or 1990s. Used to use my mom's OM lens on my Canon with adapter. Gorgeous colors.

@Kawazacky This is a good move. This is the only way I have shot my DSLR for the past 10 - 15 years. Old Nikon prime glass lenses (their mount has remained the same so no adapter needed). It gets you about as close to the old look as you can when using digital.

Very, very few Native Americans with 100% blood quantum remain. There are some around the Southwest, mainly on reservations, but not many at all. That doesn't really bother us, as we tended to be very picky about who we paired with. The vast majority of Natives paired with Scots-Irish and White-passing Spaniards and Mexicans.

What Grande Prairie Alberta needs is to return to a Christian moral framework. We still have some of the vestiges of that from a former generation. But it has become undermined by theological liberalism, secularism and wokeness. Above all, I long to see my city worship Christ.

@RevZekveld But the young ones in our churches don't know what they need; they've never been told and have never seen it. and the old ones are too busy praying for Great Aunt Gert's gallstones to see what time it is, and what's really going on

@RevZekveld You and I don't play in the same theological ball league. But you are 100% right. This is the change needed and until people in churches long for righteousness rather than riches, it won't happen. g

@jcenters I no-joke think I'd make an excellent Chief of Staff if ever given an opportunity. Sadly Given the state of Canadian healthcare I will more likely end up a Chief of Staph

Visiting New Brunswick museums reminded me of how much the Wokesters have robbed from our cultural institutions. They're still in the phase of "hey! We have black people and we're all very proud of them!" Rather than "our black people have never known success or joy or purpose due to omnipotent, invisible white supremacy."

@TristinHopper Newfoundland and maybe Cape Breton are the last real Canadian outposts east of Quebec. They feel like they did 40 yra ago. I mean, yeah, they changed, but the LA Monoculture has less of a grip.

I am still shocked by how much I loved Newfoundland. I have a recurring dream in which I visit somewhere I've never been, and it's surreally disappointing. Newfoundland was the exact opposite; exceeding expectations to the point of feeling dreamlike.

Sadly most people have no clue what Calvinism even is, other than a word to be afraid of. And only because somebody told them that Calvinist doesn't believe in evangelism. In practice both sides are very close. It's a theological debate for theological minds that the enemy has used to divide.

Thread 🧵 Had a meeting with the director of missions today from our association + a leader from the church I've been filling in at today to discuss a potential call at this church. The second question the director asked was if I was a Calvinist. 1/?

@howertonjosh Jesus in Zacchaeus' house is one proof text, and the fact that Jesus was considered a drunkard is another. It helps to speak in terms of spaces. What spaces can have the high church feel, and what other spaces can make outsiders feel more at home? Like the OT outer courts?

Pastors: An enormous number (majority?) of pastors (and especially professors) are very, very out of touch with normal people and families, ESPECIALLY blue collar people. So, to reach and disciple those people you are going to need to do some things that “pastor world” finds cringe (not theologically, but in things like style, tone, often emphasis), and you will be chattered about. There will be a couple moments (not in everything) when you’ll have to decide which matters more: Being in the “inside circle” of pastor-world or actually reaching and discipling real people with real jobs and real sins and real problems in a real culture. Charles Spurgeon summarized this dynamic well when he was viciously attacked by other pastors and newspapers for his jokes in the pulpit, his “vulgar tone”, and his sort of blue collar speech: "I am perhaps vulgar, but it is not intentional, save that I must and will make the people listen. My firm conviction is that we have had quite enough polite preachers, and many require a change. God has owned me among the most degraded and off-casts. Let others serve their class; these are mine, and to them I must keep." — Charles Spurgeon

We do not need more vulgar preachers. Mark Driscoll and many like him are a disgrace to the gospel. We do not want theatrical preachers. We reject fakers who pretend to relate, those who act like blue-collar workers, talk like blue-collar workers, all so they can say they “connect” with blue-collar workers. Preach the unadulterated Gospel. Quit preaching for profit. If you want to serve like Jesus, then Lay down your high positions and take a lowly one. It is better to receive a lowly position in heaven than to have a high position in hell. Philippians 2:5-8 (KJV) “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

Met up with a friend I hadn't seen in years tonight. He used to be online, 2016 era, he was here in the thick of it. But for the past few years he has been off everything. No IG, no X, no Facebook etc... he was asking me about what's been happening here. Asking about old posters. Asking if they were "retired" or what's still going on. He had no idea about any of the recent problems of slop on X, the brain boiling or the mass conspiratard-ism and how so much has been subsumed into the sewer. I told him the status of the situation and said he should stay offline. He said he's going to.

If I was @PierrePoilievre I’d get down on my hands and knees and thank Jesus that I didn’t get elected. Trump and his administration want their greater North America project to come to fruition. And Canada is in such a weak position after a decade of gross Liberal mismanagement that it simply cannot stop what is going to happen to us as the US turns the screws and brings us into their fold. Carney will go down in history as the man who handed us over to the USA through a series of bad deals, corruption and a rapidly crumbling economy. The math will swallow us up. At this stage there’s simply no way to get ahead of it. But hey. It was a good run and we got to feel smug and superior about our climate, gun and DEI policies. Plus we had that “free” health care and were a tolerant “mosaic”. So there’s that. Anyways, elbows up morons!!

I like lunges. I need to do them more often. I think lower-body exercises are way more useful than upper body. Big arms are nice but weak legs really suck.

These pictures make me think of an episode of The Twilight Zone called “Time Enough at Last” This guy who works at a bank is constantly annoyed that he can’t get enough time alone to read his books. So he goes down into the bank vault to be alone for his lunch hour I think it is. And while he’s down there, there’s a bomb or something and the world ends, but he survives. I won’t spoil the rest. It always comes to mind when I start to get curmudgeonly about having enough alone time

Recently, some of the younger men in my church have taken upon themselves to dress for church in a way that honors and respects the Lord’s Day. A small portion of that group posed for this photo today. This brings me great joy!
