@RobboRocker @Conservatives @KemiBadenoch @NorfolkCC @SouthCambs I’m sorry but I don’t agree with this argument that services haven’t been affected, what were the staff doing before that took 5 days then? Work only 4 days get paid only 4 days. This is taxpayers money and it’s taking the mickey.

@KayMasonBillig @Conservatives @KemiBadenoch @NorfolkCC Services have not been affected, and there is still full customer service within @SouthCambs. What we need is a proper discussion around the recruitment and retention processes within the Public Sector, which led to this. Wage Inflation did not help either.

@Conservatives I thought @KemiBadenoch is for the future, rather than the past. @NorfolkCC allows employees to do a nine-day fortnight, and that is run by @Conservatives 🤔. Has @KemiBadenoch spoken to @KayMasonBillig about this, as she seems against this? 🤔

@RobboRocker @Conservatives @KemiBadenoch @NorfolkCC Flexible hours is not the same, the hours still get done. The issue with councils who do 4 day weeks is that they are being paid for 5. Doing longer hours one day to do shorter ones on another is standard in many places, being paid for work you haven’t done is not acceptable.

I accept it was compressed hours - but flexible working is allowed at all councils including @Conservatives run councils. I think we can all agree that Councils are struggling to recruit the best talent into the Public Sector.

@jimrobbins Not walking away, we can’t sign a new Statutory Instrument this side of an election. The government changed the date of the Mayoral election to 2028, we had signed the SI for an election in 2026. So we have to go back through the legal process and we’ve simply run out of time.

Terrible interview & analysis on @TimesRadio talking to the leader of Norfolk Council. She came across as childish and petulant rather than working for her residents. I’ve dealt with @SteveReedMP as a council leader and he has been clear, transparent and really gets local govt.

@maxkittyw1 @AEPsychologists Ed Psychs are in short supply and often under time pressures that was never anticipated when the decision was made that only they could do the EHCP assessments. There are other qualified professionals who could help take the pressure off the system and assist with the process.

One of Norfolk’s solutions to the SEND crisis is to “relax the rules” on the legal requirement for Ed Psychs in EHCPs. Today the council leader declared (without evidence) that Ed Psychs “are not always the best placed person to do EHCP needs assessments” @AEPsychologists
