São Paulo is the epicenter of bitcoin DIY cold storage tools this week. 🧡

Seed@sesi_the_man
Attending a small event in São Paulo over the next few days coordinated by @lucasdcf and funded by @HRF to coordinate ongoing development of @StepanSnigirev’s embit bitcoin library AND facilitate collaboration among DIY signer/wallet projects (@SpecterDIY, @selfcustodykrux, @SeedSigner). Am also excited to attend @satsconf_ later this week. Will be sharing more on these events as I’m able. 🧡🚀

@surfacePlasmon @sesi_the_man @ClavaStack It's a regular snap case. Something happened with that photo ☺️

🚀 The Specter Association is LIVE! 🎉 Nine passionate Specter enthusiasts have united to advance Specter DIY & Specter Desktop. New leadership with @Schnuartz as our President! Huge thanks to @SwanBitcoin for empowering the community and transfering the project to us.

Has anyone come up with a simpler way to backup multisig descriptors yet? (Or some standardised way to only backup just a few elements?) Is someone working on it? It feels like wallet.dat before the creation of BIP39.

The Trump admin told us they were looking to acquire Bitcoin with a "budget neutral" strategy.
Well, they may have just found one:
Engineer a short squeeze on gold, revalue the gold holdings at the peak, and buy BTC.
70% of the world's gold is refined in Switzerland.
So what happens when you slap Swiss exports with 39% tariffs, including the gold bars that New York-based Comex accepts for deliveries?
Suddenly the gold shorters in the United States have a much harder time sourcing gold to cover their positions.
Which means they need to buy existing spot or futures, driving the price higher.
An aggressive short squeeze could force gold towards $6,000 an ounce.
Which would allow the US to revalue its holdings to ~$1.5 Trillion, which would then be deposited into the US Treasury's account.
What could they buy with that $1.5 Trillion?
A ton of Bitcoin.
Are the strange 39% tariffs on Switzerland (nearly the highest in the world) a tactic to force a gold short squeeze so they can revalue their holdings and acquire a dominant BTC position?
Let's see 🍿

As it is just software, I can remove all this things. Now I can double spend. It's still a blockchain. Because a blockchain is just a way to store data - nothing more.
The truly revolutionary thing that Satoshi introduced was not the blockchain, as this was already well known, but the combination with the proof of work, difficulty adjustment, and so on. All simple things on their own, but revolutionary in the way Satoshi combined them.
English

Yes, true, but you still have to follow consensus rules, even though you are the only peer in the network. You can’t double spend from one of your addresses to another, you must find a block hash that meets the current difficulty in order for the block to be accepted, etc. Git will let you do whatever you like, there is no rule against merging gobbledygook that doesn’t even compile (assuming it’s a codebase). A sequential linked list of hashes is interesting and useful, but what Satoshi unveiled in the white paper is truly revolutionary.
English

@rleder @notgrubles @peterktodd @0300dbdd1b @Guardtime These things (consensus building, decentralization, etc.) make Bitcoin unique, but have nothing to do with blockchain. I can run Bitcoin at home in isolation (without any decentralization), it then no longer has any of these amazing properties, but it is still a blockchain.
English

Yeah, makes sense. I think there are important differences with the Bitcoin blockchain, in that there is no peer-to-peer consensus. Every contributor has their own fork of the repo, but unless they just want to go off and do their own thing, there is one master repo controlled by maintainers who they must satisfy in order for their update to be accepted. But as far as the pure data structure of a branch is concerned, I guess it’s very similar.
English

@rleder @notgrubles @peterktodd @0300dbdd1b @Guardtime Absolutely. But because each Git commit carries the hash of its parent commit and thus forms a chain. This is exactly the data structure that makes up a blockchain.
English

@Kayth21 @notgrubles @peterktodd @0300dbdd1b @Guardtime Interesting. Are you saying a distributed fork-and-merge version control system should be thought of as a kind of blockchain?
English

@peterktodd @0300dbdd1b @Guardtime No one knows or cares what Guardtime is. Are you honestly proposing that the blockchain data structure was made common because of Guardtime? That is hilarious.

You know you've done something right when you see your products being used in Guatemala to teach Bitcoin to students. 🧡 #Bitcoin #Seedsticks

@ProtonMail @ProtonPrivacy How are you not going to state this REQUIRES having Conversation View enabled? Which is absolutely ridiculous to have these two items linked together. There are numerous feedback submissions (Inc mine) asking for you to separate them. Love your products but this makes no sense.

@Kilombino_ @sesi_the_man @frazzledrip7 You could mitigate this by using random multi-colored filaments tho
English

@Kilombino_ @sesi_the_man @frazzledrip7 That won't work. The only way I can think of is to cut the box in half and reprint from there.
English

Still tinkering. In addition to adding the index mark, have scaled the overall size up slightly and adjusted the height of the inner lid to ensure it remixes the beads when the container is opened.
Really appreciate @frazzledrip7 sharing this design in the spirit of open source.
