why is MDP treating this like it’s their victory. people didn’t vote for you, they voted against the current state of affairs. sit down, be humble and reflect on why the “silent” majority were silent in the first place and not vocally aligning with you.

🚨 This is a complete system failure. A mother needing a PEG tube to feed her child had to wait 8 months just to be told the order was never placed. If STO or NSPA had said this earlier, the parents could have found a way to obtain the tube themselves. Eight months is enough time to travel abroad, have a new one manufactured, and return. Instead, STO and NSPA took eight months to say they didn’t order it and now the parents have no way to feed their child. What is wrong with this country? Who will take responsibility? NSPA alone has a 3.4 billion budget, with 2 billion allocated for medical welfare and I don’t know how many political appointees are hired and paid by tax money to run these places and yet it takes eight months to respond to a life-and-death request involving a child. Where are the parliamentarians? Where is the Human Rights Commission? Where is the Min of Social and Family Development? Where is the Child Protection Dep of Police? Every one of these institutions must act. This must be investigated and whoever was in fault must be held accountable if we don’t want these to repeat. In the meantime, the government must take responsibility for this failure and do whatever it takes to get this PEG tube to the child IMMEDIATELY @NSPAmaldives @PoliceMv @hrcmv @mvpeoplesmajlis @MSFDmv

Do you know why this country keeps getting robbed in broad daylight? Because we keep letting incompetence and impunity run the system. Here’s one example. In 2013, during the Waheed admin, the Gov signed a joint-venture agreement with Prime Capital to develop Fushidhigaru Falhu (now RasMale).
Amazingly, the agreement was signed before acquisition costs were even paid. By 2016, the company still hadn’t been paid a single rufiyaa, and the project was put on hold. After a fight in civil court then came the Gov change. In 2019, the company filed a case at Singapore arbitration, claiming the Maldivian Gov failed to honour the agreement. Fast forward to 2023–2024.
The Gov has now paid over 300 million in “compensation” to this company. Let this sink in: 300 million of public money spent on Fushidhigaru Falhu, without a single structure ever being built there.
This is the cost of poor decision-making, weak contracts, and zero accountability. Where is the media?
Where are the journalists?
Who is taking responsibility?
Will anyone ever be held accountable for mismanagement that cost the public 300 million for nothing? And this is why it matters. Companies and officials sign flawed agreements, fail to defend the state properly in court, then quietly pay compensation using taxpayer money. The losses are socialised, while the benefits are private. This company did nothing on Fushidhigaru Falhu but them and their allies with Gov has already made 300+ million.
 This is just one example.
How many more are buried in silence?

The people who engineered it and most politicians actively involved in the movement were as insincere as the regime they opposed. Once in power, the people's desire for civil liberties was eventually taken for granted, and good governance turned into a myth.

@beedibolmeyre If you saw this and your first thought is “PORN”, you’re the problem this film is trying to address The image shows nothing but a girls hands and head, all else is hidden & the girl is clearly in distress. This is a powerful movie which addresses many taboo topics in Maldives.

What happened to Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 wasn’t an accident. It was a slow-motion economic crash caused by arrogance, bad policies, and borrowed time. Look closely, Maldives 🇲🇻. Their past is looking a lot like our present. 🧵

I saw an article called “Make Peace With Your Unlived Life” and it really made me stop and think. So much of our lives is mourning for what we didn't become. It's a waste. We didn't waste any opportunities. What came and went was not meant for us.
