British surgeon Khaled Dawas, who spent two weeks in Gaza, said that the hospitals there are reduced to practising "medieval medicine." Dawas, who was in Brussels to describe his experiences to European Union officials, noted that many people in Gaza, wounded or needing other medical attention, avoid going to the hospitals because it “means pretty much a death sentence.”
