@iyaboawokoya @thecableindex True however, the debt accumulated by previous govts had certain moratorium that is/are now crystallizing. That debt been serviced were not acquired by this govt. Now pity govts after Tinubu in his own debts aren't cleared before he leaves. Thats the needed context.

Does the APC in Lagos have any sense of decency or competence? Why should everyone on the Island be trapped in traffic simply because of your summit at TBS? This is utterly ridiculous. Madness, even. First, you have a Commissioner for Transport, you control LASTMA, and you have the RRS under your influence, yet you still cannot manage simple traffic flow around your own event? Secondly, between Marina and Bonny Camp, there are several parking facilities — both public and private. Doesn’t common sense suggest that arrangements should have been made with these parking lots so buses conveying your members could park properly while traffic continues to flow? Is basic competence too much to ask for? Shame on all of you.

@GRVlagos Are you just being mischievous? TBS host experience and many major gatherings every year and traffic is always hectic. Do you know is better to keep your mouth shut and let people speculate you are an idiot than to Open it and confirm you really are an idiot?

Chief, All applicants i know with similar delay got their passports on the back of this escalation from you. They all got denied. These are people who have spent at least 5 days in France every year for the past 10 years. Clearly, the new Consular Manager (a lady) appears to have an issue with Nigerians. Lol

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you @FranceInNigeria, you are far too kind. J'aurais écrit ceci en français, mais mon français n'est pas assez fort pour ce que je ressens à ce sujet. S'il vous plait. Merci. My passport has been returned by @FranceInNigeria. Eight (8) weeks they held it. In their characteristic generosity toward Africans, they have issued me a visa for six (6) weeks. Let me be clear about what this means in context. This is the shortest Schengen visa I have ever received from the French Embassy. My first, over a decade ago, was six months. The one before this lasted a year. The one before that, a year. There is a four-year Schengen visa somewhere in my records. On the very passport now graced with this extraordinary six-week stamp sit multiple-year visas from the United States, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Canada. Six weeks. For eight weeks of custody. The mathematics of French generosity toward Africa is its own genre. Thank you @EmmanuelMacron. I know people who got their passports back after my first tweet on this matter. One had hers held for five weeks (5). It came back without a visa. No stamp. Just a passport returned having contributed nothing to her life but five weeks of immobility. Thankfully, they did not minute on it; a small mercy in an otherwise graceless process. Graceful, I meant to write. This is not new territory for me. My very first engagement with the French Embassy over a decade ago ended in a visa rejection that came with written text stamped directly onto my passport. I wrote them a four-page letter demanding they never deface a Nigerian passport that way again; mine or anyone else's. I want to acknowledge that they have honoured that. Some things, at least, can be changed by speaking clearly. Some bad faith readers will conclude this six-week visa is punishment for calling them out publicly. I reject that interpretation entirely. I prefer to see it as consistent with France's broader approach to the continent — an approach the France-Africa Summit in Nairobi will no doubt reaffirm with great warmth, generous speeches, and many photographs. A pattern, not an anomaly. I will be writing a full article next week to express my appreciation to @FranceInAfrica in the spirit this moment deserves. I write this ready to bear whatever consequences follow. But I will write. After all, it's a love letter. Merci beaucoup. cc @NigeriaMFA @BTOofficial @Ojukwu_Bianca @France24 @abikedabiri @francediplo_EN @GermanyInAfrica @officialABAT @WilliamsRuto @CNNAfrica @BBC @FRANCE24 @ARISEtv @DW_GMF @dwnews

My passport is currently with @FranceInNigeria . It has been there for nearly eight weeks. That wait will inspire an article about the France-Africa Summit set to happen in Nairobi. The piece will be written by my Nigerian passport. It will carry the views of the average African on yet another summit between a former colonial power and the continent it once owned. Our political leaders, and even we regular citizens, have a habit of letting certain elephants stay in the room unchallenged. My passport has been sending signals for days. I intend to be its voice. The elephant will get its due recognition. I have been grounded from traveling for so long, I can now hear the voices of inanimate objects, especially my Nigerian passport. PS: 8 weeks is 15 percent of the year.

President Tinubu the autocrat has sent his goons to invade the SDP National Secretariat a day after I completed my presidential primary election screening. Tinubu, James Faleke, Joash Amupitan have perfected a plan to disrupt the SDP nomination process to prevent my emergence as SDP Presidential Candidate for 2027. Tinubu wants one man rule in Nigeria 🇳🇬 We will defeat him. It is cowardly not presidential for President Tinubu to be afraid of the competition. God bless Nigeria 🇳🇬

Madam PresIdent: It is All About Nigeria
No matter your/our politics, collectively as a people, we should NOT support this incarceration. In is injustice to keep shopping serially through many charges a 'legal' way to commit an illegality. If the charges agains Malam has no treason in them, he should be on bail.

Below is the applicable law in Nigeria. You can be arrested for criminal Defamation under Section 375: Definition: Publishing defamatory matter (written, spoken, or published) that tends to injure the reputation of another person. Penalties: Simple Defamation: One year imprisonment. False Defamation: Two years imprisonment if the publisher knows it is false. Arrest: While often used to suppress criticism, it is a criminal offence, meaning police can initiate investigations and arrests.

We are discussing the arrest that Stephania called wrong. Been detained for extended period is wrong. Very wrong but we do not know if they have a court order to keep for an extended time pending conclusion of investigation especially where there is suspicion of a syndicate engineering this awful behavior for engagement farming.

Throwing jabs at Nigeria and a private citizen for exercising his right under applicable laws is absurd.

My right of reply to the unprofessional behaviour I just saw on Arise TV. I just watched the clip on YouTube after several messages asking if I owed you something @ruffydfire, because they couldn't understand your vehemence on the topic . Your behaviour is a masterclass in assumption dressed up as commentary. I must assume it isn't personal. I am appalled and disgusted by your nauseating behaviour. More so because @The_Vimbai was right there offering you a lifeline of sense and you declined it with full confidence. I watched her shoulders drop in real time. She was desperately explaining basic logic to you and failed to get through. You could do with some humility. Even those with intellectual depth know the value of strength in humility. You argued about my situation like I had personally briefed you, confirmed I had not done what you claimed, and you pressed on regardless. Nauseating and Unprofessional. Why did you assume I had not applied to withdraw my passport? A basic instinct, journalistic or otherwise, would have had you phrase that as a question rather than a proclamation. Shall I post my withdrawal application here? Or do you imagine I woke up on a Sunday, fully unbothered, and decided to call out an embassy for sport? You may not be a professional journalist. That is fine. But you have been on television long enough to have absorbed something by proximity. You share screens with @abati1990 and Vimbai — people who understand that the position comes with responsibilities. Watch them more carefully and listen to them. You can do that and still maintain your theatrics.
