@rogwang @WeaponsVault Yes, but you would think similar to the way Reapers are operated, you would have remote operated tanks as well, or at least decoys - similar to the way some bombers use drone decoys to throw off incoming drone and SAM attacks.

@seenonetake60 @AHC1776 Why did they change the name of the town? Such a shame given the history, you would think it would have been saved to preserve the history.

@AHC1776 I love my town. Arlington, formally known as Menotomy. I live where all of this took place. It’s pretty cool. The Jason Russell house still bears the musket ball holes.

The Battle of Menotomy Starts at the Foot of the Rocks Date and Time — April 19, 4:00-4:30 p.m. The British Expedition marched up and over Pierce’s Hill into Menotomy.  There was a crossroads on the west side of the town where American forces had been gathering all day. They had come from Middlesex County, east of town, and Essex County, south of town. By the time the British arrived, more than 30 militia companies were waiting for them. This does not include the companies following them along the road on the sides and behind. At the bottom of the hill outside Menotomy, there was a long stretch of road between the “Foot of the Rocks” and Spy Pond. Stone walls, houses, and barns lined both sides of the road, and the Americans were behind every wall and inside nearly every building. General Hugh Percy had the British artillery fire on the Americans at his rear, forcing them to scatter. However, the battle quickly intensified as militia companies from various towns joined the fight, including Watertown, Medford, Malden, Dedham, Needham, Lynn, Beverly, Danvers, Roxbury, Brookline, and Menotomy. General Heath’s account of the fight at the Foot of the Rocks said: “On descending from the high grounds in Menotomy, on to the plain, the fire was brisk. At this instant, a musket-ball came so near to the head of Dr. Warren as to strike the pin out of his ear lock. Soon after the right flank of the British was exposed to the fire of a body of militia which had come in from Roxbury, Brookline, Dorchester &c. For a few minutes the fire was brisk on both sides; and the British had here recourse to their field pieces again; but they were now more familiar than before…” Near the Foot of the Rocks, Dr. Eliphalet Downer of Roxbury fought a British soldier in hand-to-hand combat. During the struggle, the soldier dropped his rifle. Dr. Downer picked it up and killed the soldier with the bayonet. The historical marker at the Foot of the Rocks says: “British troops in retreat from bloody first skirmishes at Lexington and Concord were here opposed by colonial forces gathering from four counties and thirty towns. More men fell at the foot of the rocks and on the plains of Menotomy than in every other locale through which the adversary forces fought that long day, April 19, 1775.” During the battle, Joseph Warren was nearly seriously wounded when a musket ball grazed him.

Born on this day in 1947, Tom Clancy came to define the modern techno-thriller. I read THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER soon after its publication and have many fond memories escaping into the pages of each new Clancy novel over the ensuing years. I remember exactly where I was as I cracked their covers. I already had my sights set on the SEAL Teams when John Clark first appeared in THE CARDINAL OF THE KREMLIN. When WITHOUT REMORSE hit shelves, I immediately immersed myself in the origin story of the former Navy SEAL and CIA legend. That book in particular remains an old friend. Do you have a favorite Tom Clancy novel?

This is the guy, William Scott Kelly, who incited the mob against me today. He identified me as I stood at the fence taking BROLL of the ICE facility at today's protest. Apparently he's the same guy who was arrested storming the church in Minneapolis back in January of this year.

RE: Thoughts for ETSing Military Members One of the great misconceptions I had as a career Army officer was the conceit that the day I retired I was fully qualified to run a business—any business. I knew I had great management and leadership skills. I figured all I needed to do was take a one credit accounting course and I was ready to roll as a CEO. I know many of my peers felt the same way. Gosh were we all wrong. As I culminate my second career as a corporate lawyer, I realize that this is a message I should share with career military NCOs and officers who are facing an upcoming ETS date. YES, you have excellent management and leadership skills. YES, you have dealt with stress that most people will never experience. All of these skills and experiences DO give you a leg up on being a business leader—they do. But let me tell you ten incredibly important things the military never taught you: 1. Profit and loss. No profit? No business. 2. Managing personnel under the incredibly complex web of state and federal employment and HR policies and laws. 3. Accounting. You need to deeply understand balance sheets, profit/loss statements & statements of cash flows. (If your business is big enough, a good CFO matters.) 4. Navigating the myriad of exceptionally complex corporate and securities laws that govern any business entity. 5. Dealing with employees who expect to be treated with kid gloves. That underperforming employee? You can’t tell him/her to drop and give you 20. 6. Creating a product or service that people ACTUALLY VALUE and therefore WANT TO PURCHASE. 7. Marketing and sales. You have to make people want to buy what you are selling. 8. Dealing with ruthless, cutthroat, no-holds-barred competition. 9. Keeping boards of directors and stockholders happy. 10. IT. Maybe you did IT stuff in the military, but running digital commerce for the average civilian is not the same thing. I’m not writing this to scare you. I’m writing this to tell you to not be overconfident when you take off the uniform and put on a suit. You DO possess management and leadership skills that are a valuable and rare commodity. But be honest about what you don’t know, and study up on it. Take classes. Educate yourself. Read. Assemble a team of advisors who will walk the walk with you—a good accountant; a good business lawyer; a good financial advisor; regulatory compliance specialists in your business area; PR, marketing and IT advisors. Trust and rely on these people. Most especially, be honest about what you don’t know. If you are starting out working for someone else, don’t blow smoke in an interview—be confident about your strengths, but don’t pretend to know what you don’t know. You have done amazing things in uniform. If you train yourself in the areas the military did not train you in, you WILL succeed in business. Good luck.
