Ari Aster made short films for years. Quiet, strange ones that made people uncomfortable. He did not soften the edges to get meetings. He did not pitch something safer. Hereditary was his first feature. It premiered at Sundance and changed what people thought horror could be. Your whole advantage is the specificity of 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 vision. Stop diluting what makes your work yours.

Because I see some people in the comments are getting persnickety … It’s tradition for actors to go to In-N-Out after the Oscars. Jamie Lee Curtis did it. Ang Lee did it. Vanity Fair actually serves In-N-Out at their Oscars party. Hell, I had an In-N-Out food truck at my wedding. It’s just an LA thing.

definitely one the best depictions of the human condition. Marty’s humanity outweighs his ambition in this very moment. once you look into the eyes of a human you helped create, your life is given a monumental purpose. Struck a major cord with me. I hope he wins that Oscar.

Lots of indie filmmakers from YouTube have been getting theatrical films as of late. We got Chris Stuckmann’s Shelby Oaks, and now Markiplier’s Iron Lung, and later this year we’re getting Backrooms from Kane Parsons. Really excited what this could mean for the future of film!
