He’s being asked and pressed for explanations. “I’m sorry, it wasn’t good enough, we’ll do better” isn’t acceptable and he’ll be pushed for WHY wasn’t it good enough. That’s when he has to get into the granular detail of the season. Injuries have played a big part. His own decisions haven’t panned out as he expected. A few individuals have fallen off a cliff in terms of their own form. None of those alone are excuses but all three combined apply important context. Again, if you’ve got a brain (not you, just fans in general) you can see nuance. If you’ve got a tendency to see headlines and respond to soundbites you’ll kick off. Loads of fans have been angry at him for apparently having this massive ego and blaming everything but himself, but he’s taken responsibility and protected the players at every single opportunity.

@KeeThomasMDT @BlessedBobby_ @LFC_Keaton It’s where he mentions “lost to the winners” and “team that nobody competes against in the last 2 seasons” that people are concerned about. You can’t just say “we’re unhappy, BUT” in a situation like that. He’s meant to state the problems, apologize and get on with next season.

@KeeThomasMDT @BlessedBobby_ @LFC_Keaton It’s not about what I want him to say…it’s about what I DONT want him to say. And it appears he can’t help himself when judging his own team’s performances, by other team’s achievements. If you can’t see that, you’re beyond help.

@FN218714 @BlessedBobby_ @LFC_Keaton It’s not a defence of Slot. I have criticised Slot this season and he’s made mistakes. It’s an acceptance that staying the course is what is best for Liverpool. Changing the manager at this moment, irrespective of who you appoint, would do far more harm than good.

@KeeThomasMDT @BlessedBobby_ @LFC_Keaton @KeeThomasMDT Your obsession with defending him rivals some of the best romantic and sexual tension I've seen on TV. I understand he won 1 Premier League title. But without a distinct style of play, a cohesive team of players and a leader's charisma, why defend him this much?

I mean exactly that. The manager has acknowledged failings in his own decision making. He’s accepted responsibility for the defeats and poor performances (even though we all know, as fans, it’s not solely on him). So I come back to my original question, what exactly do you want him to say? How would you like him to reply after the season we’ve had, when he’s asked directly about it?

@Autisticosaurus @BlessedBobby_ @LFC_Keaton He has said all of the above. Not quite verbatim. But he’s owned the losses at multiple points during the season and acknowledged failings in his own decision making…

@KeeThomasMDT @NotDeanRyan1 @dahirmo17 @1nsightty Yeah if you think the guy who lead Liverpool to 20 losses and their most goals conceded in a 38 game season and avoids accountability like the plague is the guy to lead the team forward there’s no speaking logic to you

This isn’t a good team that has performed well below where it should be, to be clear. It’s a fundamentally broken team at the end of it’s cycle, with some talented young players and a few redeeming features. 6-8 players went last summer. Another 6-8 will go this summer. That’s a lot of very necessary change, whoever the coach is. That’s why it’s best to let him see it through. It’s not very smart to change course midway through, all you do is extend the carnage. We’ve got to invest again this summer. Over the last 6-7 years, Arsenal have spent double what we have on their team. We’ve got to bridge that gap.

@KeeThomasMDT @NotDeanRyan1 @dahirmo17 @1nsightty What has he shown in the past 12 months that indicates to you that he can turn this around? Saying “I need another £300m” and the reason for the poor season is “injuries” is beyond pathetic. He has 0 redeeming qualities

reuters.com/sports/soccer/… This is that specific quote. He’s taken the blame multiple times throughout the season to avoid pointing the finger at the players - which is what any good manager does. You don’t think we need a transfer window? This squad has been nowhere near good enough to compete with City and Arsenal at any point this season. That’s partially due to injuries and partially due to squad quality / depth.

@KeeThomasMDT @NotDeanRyan1 @dahirmo17 @1nsightty Yeah I doubt he’s actually said that and even if he has then he contradicts himself at every given opportunity. He constantly talks about how he needs the transfer window, today he used injuries as an excuse ffs. Again he avoids accountability like the plague

Very fair. Doesn’t always choose his words well, that’s for sure. There’s a certain cross section of fans (not you) who would find fault no matter what he said. I think he’s better saying very little and let the club’s business over the summer do the talking. That will determine how serious we are for next season. He’s made his mistakes this year but, to be fair to the fella, he’s also got a lot of valid excuses. It’s the clubs job to remove those excuses. To give him the tools to get Liverpool back up there. If he has those and we’re still playing like we have this season - then he’ll have less sympathy from people like me.

@AledHughes84 @Jack_LFC_1892 @Emmanue18905148 @KyleEd0 You can’t change a third of the squad, replacing experienced title winners with 16-22 year old kids and realistically expect to compete on all fronts. The club knew this was a going to be a challenging year and Slot’s said as much since the start.

A load of people wanting a title winning manager sacked after one bad season. When there’s no one out there to replace him. European football after the tragedy last summer was always the maximum we where ever getting👍

Where has this stupid idea come from that he’s this ego maniac who’s not taken responsibility for the teams losses and not accepted he’s made mistakes during the season? 🤣 I hear this so much from fans who’ve evidently never heard the guy speak. The guy has repeatedly said that the losses are down to me and he said in his press conference only yesterday that this season has been a learning curve for him and his first season as a manager where he hasn’t been fighting for titles to the very end. As humble as they come. Perhaps too humble.

@justdammyyy Disagree. It’s about his awful tactics/style of football. Gaslighting fans and throwing his own players under the bus while not taking responsibility for his decisions/flaws

I think the toxicity around Slot was never really about Slot. It was about grief. Klopp grief specifically. People attached their entire football identity to Klopp's era and Slot's presence is a daily reminder that it's over.
Im_A_Believer@BelieveInKlopp

The hatred for Slot on here is real. He appears to have got under the skin of so many. So many topics conversations get brought back to him. Liverpool say he is staying but the Toxity around Slot remains. I don’t believe there is any way to turn this around?

"According to sources in Egypt, Salah feels deeply upset by how this has played out. ‘Just you wait until his first interview,’ said one, referring to the fact the player feels he has been harshly treated when considering how much he has given to Liverpool over the last decade." - @LewisSteele_ ==== Remember he’s doing this for the club, folks. 🤔 “hE cArEs aBoUt lIvErPoOl” 🫠
