Youth sports is dominated by adult emotions. Shouldn’t be that way. Was never meant to be that way. It’s about the kids and only the kids. Adults, stop hijacking the game from them, leave your personal desires at home and give the game back to them.

Gen X was so feral that the television had to remind parents to go find their kids at ten p.m.

@CoachSwit I see it every year. Way too many parents stealing their kid's experience. Show up, cheer, and let the game be theirs!

I’ve already seen coaches fighting with umpires, parents fighting with coaches, and parents fighting with other parents this travel baseball season. Oddly enough, I haven’t seen many issues with the players. Makes you wonder who the youth sports experience is really for.

@JaredB_BSBL You signed up to play for the coach so what he says goes. I wasn’t allowed to swim on tournament weekends at all so I don’t see an issue.

12U travel baseball. Team goes 0-2 Saturday in pool play. Upset about the results, the Head coach tells parents and players; “players aren’t allowed to swim at the hotel pool tonight.” Thoughts?

@CoachSwit I agree with some of the travel ball comments but with that I think parents carry some blame. Get upset that their kid doesn't play the position they want them to and hop to the next team. Rinse and repeat year after year and all of a sudden their kid doesn't want to play anymore

In our H.S. program, we usually get 80–100 kids trying out. This year we’re in the mid-70s. Coaches across the state are telling me numbers are down everywhere. Some schools like us, with 2,500 students, have only 20–25 kids trying out for 3 teams. What’s happening to baseball?

Parents poisoning team culture through their kids. Your whispers in the car become their words in the locker room. Choose wisely.

Parents: The ONLY thing that you should say to your child after a game is... "I love watching you play". Let them do any other talking
