When you give away a day because you're not all the way there mentally, someone else is investing it, and preparing to take what you’re not protecting. Own your identity without apology! The moment you start shrinking to be digestible, you lose the very edge that makes you effective. You're not in the politics business, you're in the people business. The right people don’t need you to be everything, they need you to be authentically you, CONSISTENTLY and without COMPROMISE.

Stop being afraid of bad games. They're going to happen. What are you going to do about it? When you get out, ask yourself one question. Why. Why did I get out. Why was I late. Why did I chase that. You don't need to fix everything. You need to understand what happened. Then take that into your next training session. Not feelings. Not frustration. Not a whole new swing. One thing you understood. One correction. Go attack it. Understand why you got out. Make the correction. Catch barrel after barrel. That's the whole process. You're gonna have bad games. Every hitter on the planet does. The ones who figure it out aren't more talented. They just refuse to waste a bad at-bat. Understand. Correct. Compete. Every single day. Save this. Send this to a hitter who needs it.

Athletes… take a moment and try to look into the mind of your parent. When they remind you to get extra reps… When they talk to you after a tough game… When they point out things you could do better… They are not trying to make you feel bad about yourself. Parents aren’t sitting there thinking, “How can I tear my kid down today?” They’re thinking, “I see so much potential in you, and I want to help you find it.” They don’t want you walking away feeling defeated or less than. They want you walking away stronger, more confident, and closer to the best version of yourself. The reminders, the conversations, the sometimes uncomfortable honesty… it all comes from the same place. Belief in you. Love for you. And the hope that one day you’ll see in yourself what they’ve seen all along.

Leaders: Hold yourself accountable and admit that you CAN be better. I strive to reflect constantly because I know it’s NOT ABOUT ME. It’s about the lives I either infect or heal; it’s about when I respond, do I make them feel empowered or scared. If we don’t look within as coaches, then the problems we face will always be outside of our control and that’s not whole the truth. We can all be better. ❤️
