@markrmcqueen Fun fact - data centers don’t even create that many jobs post-construction. The DO use a lot of water. Weird that @rebeccakschulz tinkered with the water regulations last year and now this greaseball gets a pass on any environmental scrutiny 🧐

@Loudi1972 @yomeeks @jennAA2014 Daughter to FFCA Gr 1-8 (Catholic K, public 9-12)each had their pros and cons. community/school connection is hard in large towns/cities. You’re right - Private not the answer answer is a well funded public system, small class sizes and > student supports; school = community.

@KellysHadEnough @yomeeks @jennAA2014 It reminds me of a friend that worked on the colony. Treated like gold by the people. He taught the curriculum K-12 and if a kid acted up all he had to say was “Do I need to talk to Leonard?” Problem solved. Communities and public schools go hand in hand. No need for private.

Sorry, who can afford to pay thousands of dollars/year for private school other than wealthy people?! Why should taxpayers subsidize special schools for wealthy people? They can pay their own way for that.
Jean Salter@look4truth_jean

@jennAA2014 Not so. This makes the private schools affordable for those who otherwise would not have access to them, to the public at large instead of the rich few. It enables school choice for everyone.

@Loudi1972 @yomeeks @jennAA2014 Public school teachers are part of the ATA - I don’t think private/charter school teachers are? and may not require an edu degree (? my kids art teacher had a degree in fine arts but no edu creds) If they get 70% of the $ am sure the rem 30% is a grant for some MLA’s cousin 😏

@jennAA2014 @yomeeks Why would anyone in rural Alberta ever think subsidizing private schools is a good thing? It’s not like a company is wanting to rush in, and quite frankly, their public schools are reflections of their values if they are able to successfully attract and retain teachers.

Today, over 2.4 billion Christians across Alberta and around the world mark Good Friday. It is a solemn day of reflection, sacrifice, and faith. A reminder of the enduring values of grace, humility, and redemption that continue to shape our communities. To all those observing, I wish you a peaceful and meaningful Good Friday.

@swats24 I had a boss tell us if someone sends you a meeting request without an agenda then decline. He did the same with the executive team. People got the point really quickly and there were less meetings.

Alberta is indeed expanding its “book ban” to all public libraries and putting the Muni Affairs Minister in charge of that. They will be making 16+ areas for racy images. The premier previously told me this would only be for libraries co-located in schools. #ableg #cdnpoli

Buried in the UCP’s new municipal legislation is the next iteration of the book bans. Except it’s not a ban, they’re just taking them off the shelves and putting them in a room in the back of the library with a curtain. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

@integritycdn Folding laundry is my superpower also. Immediately out of the dryer and folded; stacked by where they get put away. Sit in the living room for 7-10 business days. Every photo of my living room in the last 20 years has a basket in the background 🤦🏻‍♀️

Alberta is bringing government, agencies and partners together to take a coordinated, system-wide approach to investment. The Premier’s Investment Council brings key ministers and provincial agencies to one table to track major opportunities, provide strategic advice and help move high-impact projects forward faster.
