Horrors of Communism showcased: On the left is German Jagerschnitzel. Very good comforting meal if you can get it. On the right is the Communist East German "Jagerschnitzel" made up of several slices of a giant hotdog (you got a comically sized hotdog known as State Sausage for your ration) that's deep fried. The side is box noodles with ketchup as the sauce. Nothing shows off leftism than this shit. Instead of a home cooked meal made with love. You get food a Methhead would make in their hotel from money they got stealing copper. With the insistence they're the same and it's all subjective to add insult to injury.

@After__History What Lars Lih "believes" has no importance as what he defended at that time was obvious (that also Lih had to confess). Him framing it "temporary", "taking a step-back" etc. was him trying to be in line with Lenin. Of course he wouldn't say "fuck socialism".

There is no evidence that Bukharin had any desire to establish a "permanent NEP." His writings clearly show that he viewed market policy as a sign of backwardness to be overcome quickly as possible. Deng framed his market approach as an open-ended strategy, not temporary retreat.
Bukharin quite explicitly outlined the necessity of a unitary, rational, and fully planned economy, viewing the NEP as an unpleasant short-term compromise needed to realize that goal
