@TotallyCanc3l3d Your experience recounts anecdotes from individuals. Anecdotal data is insufficient to draw scientific conclusions from, yet this error is common. Best to rely upon the many credible studies that show the consequences of a C19 infection is much worse than the harm from vaccines.

Another study conducted in Covid wards at Addenbrooke’s hospital in Cambridge showed that air filter machines removed almost ALL traces of airborne Covid virus. Why are we not doing this in all schools? Surely it’s a no-brainer! 🤔 bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-eng…

@RosieBarton Prosecutorial independence is a cornerstone of the rule of law and by extension, democracy. Why is it that these "freedom" loving right-wing populist conservatives so readily trample on the norms, laws, and institutions of democracy to pander to their base constituents?

@CarrieTait Oh for effs sake. Danielle Smith is foisting Preston Manning on Albertans to gaslight us on Covid, about which his knowledge is highly suspect - but his politics are a certainty. Yet another reason Rachel gets my vote.

@mogrant61 @duncandee Nice chart. But, a serious chronic illness in Australia without private insurance = limited access to the best facilities and best specialists. Some specialists charge above the insured rate. Pre- existing conditions not insured. Those are serious deficiencies.

@Ken_Meen @duncandee Canada is ranked 23rd. Australia is 6th. Again, every conservation has people crying about US-style health care while not talking about the many countries including Australia who have public/private systems that are better than Canada. Always pointing to the US is disingenuous.

If Canadians want to know why their health care system is in such dire straits, this 🧵 is a great example why. It's never about ensuring Canadians have access to care, it's an ideological anti-American fantasy.

Kaycee Madu misrepresents this development as UCP work, while actually having no role in it whatsoever. More lies from our illustrious government.
Hon. Thomas A. Lukaszuk@LukaszukAB

.@KayceeMaduYEG Do you know why Government of Alberta isn’t mentioned in this article? It’s because it had nothing to do with this positive development. The College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta is independent, self-governing and sets its own licensing rules #ableg #abpoli

@DFisman I’ve spoken to Canadian physicians with US fellowship training who have commented on the frequent performance of unnecessary surgical procedures in situations where medical management would have been preferable and less risky.

I’ve worked in medicine both sides of the border. Canadas public health system is worth fighting for. It’s like the green belt: once the crooks destroy it, you won’t get it back. Fight them.

@mogrant61 @duncandee What you’re missing is that to most Canadians the most salient aspect of private healthcare is what they see in the USA. Don’t expect them to focus on potentially more meritorious public-private systems and assume they’re any better. Many (eg Australia) aren’t.

@Ken_Meen @duncandee Once again, missing the point that adding private options does not mean “American-style” health care. Germany, Australia, Switzerland and many more use a combination of public/private, and have way better outcomes than Canada.

@mogrant61 @duncandee That’s because we’re close neighbours and can see the enormous deficiencies in US healthcare, which costs much more and results in reduced life spans. Who in their right mind would want that?

@duncandee Every discussion about adding private services to health care always gets blasted by “We’re Canadian, we don’t need no stinking American health care” while completely ignoring 50+ other countries that have a mix of public/private with better outcomes than us. #HealthCareHypocrisy

@andrew_leach Notley’s argument seems not so much against emissions targets and job retraining, but that both of those should be established through a consultative process with the province, and pointing out that the conduct of Danielle Smith/UCP has been a barrier to such a process.

A month ago, Rachel Notley gave perhaps the most important economic policy speech of her political career, at the #YYC Chamber of Commerce. I'm watching it now to see how much of this was "deeply embedded in her psyche," when she gave that speech. Because this seems like a pivot.
