@jmjones Consumers are just overextended generally because of inflation; ticket sales for entertainment events (not just sports) are down across the country

Friday night was the least-attended weekend game played between the Cardinals and Royals in the history of this Busch. It became hard to notice the empty seats behind the several hundred half-naked dudes filling up right field. How the crowd set a "vibe," unlocked for all:

@davidclowery I recently came to the conclusion that Mr. Jones is actually a great song! Kind of a victim of its own success since it got overplayed.

I once was making a similar observation when someone countered something to the effect “but wasn’t it the height of Neo Classic Rock?” The accurate point being made: Grunge captured the attention of the press, but in parallel, Counting Crows, Blues Traveler, Hootie, Spin doctors, Wallflowers etc etc were matching if not outpacing grunge in sales.
Jon Katz@JonKatz79

The fact that Counting Crows came out with August and Everything After in 1993, during the height of the grunge era, makes it all the more impressive. Totally unique vibe and sound for that time, and still resonated with the youth. Plus there's not a bad song on the whole album.

When I look back to when George W Bush was President I couldn’t stand him,but now I look at him and think maybe he wasn’t so bad.I think that he probably wasn’t a such bad guy,but just not a very smart one. What do you think?

Someone needs to check on Dave Matthew’s, he’s either having a seizure or trying to scat. Is he singing about shitting on a boat? I’m concerned, yet confused.

@amelia_tweetz Everyday I ask myself the same thing. I had a vent session with my buddy last night. They want us to feel alone and insane, but we’re just perceptive

George Conway on Trump: “He invites people to feel as if they are superior by hating on other people. He has created a permission structure for people to be their worst selves. He has taught Americans that it’s okay to be selfish and spiteful and hateful and angry and resentful and that is the most toxic thing he has done to the country”

@zriboua China strategically miscalculated? Iran and China’s position is significantly stronger than it was before the conflict.

My assessment: As I've been saying since the start, China's biggest strategic miscalculation was assuming the Americans would eventually tire of Iran and look for a way out. They did not. They imposed a blockade, went after Chinese firms and refineries by name, and turned Beijing's Iranian bet into a direct liability for the Chinese economy. Every capital in the region that got hit by IRGC watched where the missiles came from and reached the same conclusion: the weapons that threatened them had CCP fingerprints. Xi and Wang Yi spent most of their time telling every government in the Middle East that Beijing was the indispensable commercial partner with no geopolitical agenda. That story required Arab tolerance of China's relationship with Iran, and that tolerance is gone.

China has begun to put large pressure on Iran to reach and agreement, which is significant as Irans largest economic partner-POLITICO

Trump to Xi: “We're going to have a fantastic future together. I have such respect for China. The job you've done. You're a great leader…It’s an honor to be with you. It’s an honor to be your friend” (Compare this to how Trump talks about President Zelenskyy and America’s closest allies in Europe)
