Normal humans get sent into mines to dig ore by hand by the thousands because machines are more expensive and are worth more than people lol.

People believe the expansionist empire that has a caste system entirely made up of Tau would allow humans equal rights to a tau. The ability to govern or run for elections where they would get a say on tau politics or chance to multiply beyond their own numbers and risk tipping any sector or balance of power in tau society in human favour in their own empire. They only think they're free because they don't see all the strings attached.
