Educating our children is the foundation of Colorado’s future. I respect the right to strike, but students must be back in classrooms as quickly as possible—attendance is down in Sheridan School District and learning time is being lost. Both sides need to return to the table in good faith immediately so schools can reopen and students aren’t caught in the middle.

Ben Nighthorse Campbell switched his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican on March 3, 1995, after two years in the U.S. Senate. This dramatic move occurred primarily because the Senate defeated a balanced-budget amendment he had championed, though reports also cited personal disputes with the Colorado Democratic establishment.
Campbell stated he could no longer represent the party's agenda, noting, "I get hammered from the extremes."
Despite the switch, he maintained his fiscal conservative views while remaining socially progressive, often voting with Democrats on issues like labor and minority rights.
He was reelected as a Republican in 1998 by the largest margin in Colorado history for a statewide race at that time.
The switch resulted in him becoming the only Native American serving in Congress during his tenure until 2005.
He served in the Senate from 1993 to 2005, retiring before the 2004 election cycle.

Summit County is getting the transit system it deserves.
In 2022 I secured $35 million for a new bus barn in Frisco — funding President Trump froze in 2025, threatening to derail the project entirely.
I took action, calling on the Department of Transportation to release the funds so that working families can access reliable and affordable transportation across Summit County.
