Eugenio Chacarra and David Puig are a great example of the young talent that’s being nurtured on LIV. These guys have the chance to make life changing money straight out of college and can also mix it with some of the best to ever do it, it can only be a good thing for their career development. The investment into LIV’s feeder system, the ‘International Series’ on the Asian Tour, has been a fantastic addition to the golf landscape and it helps get these guys experience playing top level competitive golf all over the world. Andy Ogletree has transformed his career after an awesome season and has all but secured his LIV status for next year. They also have an NIL deal with 16 year old Thai amateur, TK Chantananuwat, making it pretty clear how much they’re looking to the future. The positives of LIV deserve far more attention and this is definitely one of them!

The DP World Tour has released its full schedule today and it’s very noticeable that there’s no event in Europe until the end of May. There’s also a shocking event clash with the British Masters going up against the Tour Championship on the PGA Tour. The ‘most historic tournaments and national Opens’ are now crammed into a 2 and a half month window at the end of the season to suit the PGA Tour schedule. These ‘historic tournaments’ include prize funds for the British Masters, Spanish and French Opens which are less than opposite field PGA Tour events. The qualification for the bigger purse events includes 15 players from the top 70 of the FedEx Cup standings who are not already exempt, who will add to the many exempt players like Rory who pick and choose. These guys can play in the US all year and then just rock up, push out regular DP World Tour members and potentially get into the ‘playoffs’ to win the bonus money. Remember that argument about LIV players in the BMW PGA taking spots last season? The hypocrisy is astounding. Overall, we expected this but it’s very sad to see officially in print. The once great European Tour is clearly being bullied by Ponte Vedra and this idea that it’s “never been in a stronger position” is just ridiculous, the whole schedule has changed for the worse. I’m sure it’s all very ‘strategic’! Thoughts?
