Please, I need your advice. 🙏
This is my true life story, and I'm honestly boiling inside right now. I don't know what to think.
I have a neighbor who is a police officer. We are neither friends nor related. We're both Yoruba, but he was always the one trying to get close to me. I usually kept my distance because I didn't like the way he reasoned sometimes.
Despite that, I always helped him. Whenever he and his wife quarreled, I was often the one settling their issues.
When my wife and his wife traveled at the same time, he claimed he didn't know how to cook. For a whole week, I cooked and gave him food every morning and every night. On another occasion, after he quarreled with his wife and she refused to cook, he begged me for food, and I fed him twice. Sometimes on many occasions he will come to me that he's hungry, and I will give him food
He also borrowed money from me several times. He repaid some of it, while I overlooked the rest. He would always tell me, "You're the only brother I have in Abuja."
Now I just returned on Sunday June 12 after spending over a month in my hometown. Another neighbor called me aside yesterday 14th and warned me to be careful of this police officer. He said the officer had been telling people that he would soon arrest me. He also boasted that people didn't know the kind of work he did because he only went out one or two days a week, came home early, yet lived better than those who worked every day.
The neighbor said everyone knows me as a gentle and easy going person, which is why he felt the need to warn me. He also said he's ready to repeat everything in the officer's presence.
I'm honestly shocked.
Should I ignore it and simply keep my distance, or should I confront him with the witness present?
What would you do if you were in my shoes?
