A strong and purposeful close to the four-day 19th Ambassadors’ Conference, as our Ambassadors and High Commissioners return to their stations with a clear mandate, showcase a confident, forward-looking and competitive Kenya to the world. H.E. President @WilliamsRuto set the tone, calling on our diplomats to actively market a Kenya on a positive trajectory and to seize every opportunity to position our country as a destination for investment, trade and partnership. His message was clear, we have one country, and we must tell its story boldly and consistently. Deputy President Prof. @_KithureKindiki reinforced this call to action, urging our envoys to lead with discipline, focus and selfless service as they advance Kenya’s interests globally. Coming after nearly a decade, this Conference marks a renewed push to energise our missions abroad, aligning them with the recently adopted Foreign Policy framework and Sessional Paper, and equipping them to deliver results. Our diplomats now move with clarity, purpose and direction, driving Kenya’s global engagement and positioning our country firmly on a path of growth, opportunity and transformation.

During the opening session of the 19th Ambassadors’ Conference held in Safari Park Nairobi, themed “Advancing Kenya’s National Interests in a Rapidly Evolving Geopolitical Landscape,” and presided over by H.E. @WilliamsRuto, I outlined the strategic direction the State Department for Foreign Affairs is pursuing. We convene at a moment of profound transition in the international system. Geopolitical alignments are shifting, economic relations are being recalibrated, and competition for influence, markets, and strategic space is intensifying. This conference provides a timely platform to reflect, recalibrate, and sharpen Kenya’s foreign policy priorities. I highlighted our ongoing efforts to optimize Kenya’s expansive diplomatic property portfolio through a Public-Private Partnership framework. This approach is designed to strengthen Kenya’s global positioning by transforming our overseas assets into high-value, strategic investments. We are implementing an ambitious asset management, acquisition, and development strategy aimed at repositioning these properties as impactful public assets. I also underscored the State Department’s commitment to bringing diplomacy closer to the people through the Foreign Policy Mashinani initiative. In partnership with the Kenya Model United Nations (KMUN), we are further expanding this outreach to empower and inspire the youth of Kenya and motivate the next generation committed to international solidarity. @ForeignOfficeKE #AmbassadorsConfKE2026 #AmbassadorsConferenceKE #DiplomacyInActionKE

H.E. Ambassador Angeline Musili, MBS, had the distinct honour of participating in the 19th Ambassadors Conference, organized by the State Department for Foreign Affairs and presided over by the President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto. The President’s address highlighted that Kenya has recorded impressive progress in bolstering its economic growth and long-term resilience, infrastructure development, investment cooperation, technological innovation and youth empowerment, all underpinned by and driven by diplomatic efforts. In the current geopolitical environment, characterised by shifting norms, unprecedented global challenges and deepening globalisation spurred by rapid technological advancements, Kenya remains a beacon of peace, stability and international solidarity. In this context, the role of Kenyan Ambassadors is more critical now than ever. However, amid ever-evolving and convoluted international and regional ecosystems, diplomacy must be recalibrated to respond to and remain in tandem with these changes. Ambassadors are not just political symbols negotiating their countries’ interests. They are strategic economic assets who project and protect the image of Kenya, nurture diplomatic ties and relations, drive economic development, harness domestic opportunities, foster peace and stability, and embody our national values and identity. Kenya must remain attuned to this dynamic landscape while staying true to its commitment to international cooperation, global peace and mutual respect.

Privileged to host H.E. Jukka Salovaara, Permanent State Secretary of Finland, for the 5th Session of the Kenya-Finland Political Consultations in Nairobi. Our discussions reaffirmed a deep-rooted friendship dating back to 1963, now bolstered by our 2025 Memorandum of Understanding. We explored strategic cooperation across vital sectors, including ICT, Green Energy, Education, and Healthcare, aligning Finland’s Africa Strategy with Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) to drive shared prosperity. Economic diplomacy remains a top priority as we work to expand trade beyond our current coffee and horticultural exports. I invited Finnish investors to leverage Kenya’s position as a gateway to East and Central Africa, particularly in our Special Economic Zones. We are also making significant strides in formalizing partnerships for skilled labor mobility and teacher training, ensuring our youth are equipped with world-class skills in the digital and hospitality industries. Beyond bilateral ties, we engaged in candid dialogue on regional security in the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes region, emphasizing our joint commitment to peace mediation. These consultations serve as a critical foundation for H.E. President William Ruto’s reciprocal State Visit to Finland in June 2026. Together, we are building a multifaceted partnership that champions multilateralism, climate action, and a secure, inclusive future for both our nations. @ForeignOfficeKE @Ulkoministerio

Kenya congratulates Lithuania on its upcoming role as President of the European Union, and we look forward to leveraging this moment to mark 30 years of diplomatic relations and elevate our partnership to a more strategic and impactful level. I engaged H.E. @VidmantasVerb, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, at my Railways office, where we agreed to strengthen dialogue and unlock new areas of cooperation. I invited Lithuania to establish a resident diplomatic mission in Nairobi, positioning it to tap into opportunities within the UN system, East Africa and the wider African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) market. As our trade grows, I called for concrete steps to bridge the trade gap, including fast-tracking an MoU on Trade and collaborating on capacity-building initiatives to help our farmers and exporters meet EU standards and expand market access. Together, we are building a more dynamic, forward-looking Kenya–Lithuania partnership anchored on trade, innovation and shared opportunity.

Investing in Kenya unlocks access to the entire African market through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), positioning our country as a strategic gateway to growth and opportunity. Joined H.E. President @WilliamsRuto and H.E. Daniel Francisco Chapo, President of Mozambique, at the 4th Kenya International Investment Forum in Nairobi, where we advanced high-level discussions on regional integration and investment. I highlighted Kenya’s competitive strengths, our strategic location, a youthful and skilled population, and the drive for innovative investments that strengthen resilience and accelerate the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. I encouraged investors to seize opportunities in trade, technology, manufacturing and green industries, sectors that are shaping Africa’s fastest-growing economies. The forum brought together Cabinet Secretaries, Governors, global investors, development partners and private sector leaders, all focused on unlocking practical investment opportunities and positioning Kenya as a leading hub for regional and continental growth.
