#FreeDrJobObwaka #SisiniKHA As President of @KenyaMedics_KMA I have visited Dr Job Obwaka at Muthaiga Police Station this afternoon. Let me start by giving accolades to Muthaiga Police Station. If you ever arrest me, take me there. The staff are kind and courteous. The environment is clean and the jail birds are well taken care of. I sought to know why Dr Job was arrested, who is the complainant and what is the way forward. Job is a Director at Kenya Hospital Association (KHA) the Board that runs The Nairobi Hospital. He had been co-opted to the board after the resignation of the Dr Kambuni team, who unsurprisingly had been treated the same way as Job. It seems to be a trend. When someone wants to take control of the board, they threaten board members and put up trumped up charges on them. They then force the Chair to co-opt persons they propose. This is what is happening at KHA. Apparently all sorts of accusations will be read out tomorrow at MILIMANI court in the morning. In the same jail is Mr Kinyanjui, a lawyer and a Director at KHA. Even the lawyer does not know what they are be charged for. But in this day and age this is not surprising. There are people eyeing the Nairobi Hosital. Unfortunately they have gone too far using State organs. The Nairobi Hospital was started as a Community hospital owned by the community. It is in our interest to keep it so. We will resist all attempts to make this community hospital a private one. People want to earn without working via deals. There is a difference between making deals and doing business. With deals you do not care about the hospital or the people there. With business, you are interested in getting a profit but ensuring there is continuity. For Nairobi Hospital we reject deals. It is Doctors’ businesses. And now they have shown their hand. Tomorrow this I call upon DOCTORS to wear their white coats and come to Milimani courts and listen to the trumped up charges against my colleague, Obstetrician Gynaecologist, Father to an obstetrician Gynaecologist, and a man who has received honors for work done. He is being arraigned because they want to intimidate him to resign so that cronies can be brought to the KHA Board. Dr Obwaka will not resign. Nairobi Hospital will not go to Private Hands. Tukutane MILIMANI COURT kesho.

This morning and afternoon we visited Dr. Obwaka and Counsel Kinyanjui at Muthaiga Police Station. It is unfortunate that the charges levied against the doctor appear to have no identifiable complainant, and our efforts to obtain further information have been met with unnecessary red tape. Further, Counsel Kinyanjui, who serves as the Company Secretary of Nairobi Hospital, was also abducted and has been subjected to the same unlawful process. The offence allegedly levied against Dr. Obwaka and Counsel Kinyanjui is a bailable one, the anticipatory bail application notwithstanding. We have been informed that strict instructions have been issued not to release the doctor and Wakili. We are also aware that members of the current leadership of Nairobi Hospital (the Kenya Hospital Association) are facing threats. Legal disputes should not attract interference from the state. The weaponisation of law enforcement agencies is unlawful and undermines the rule of law. @kmpdu @KenyaMedics_KMA @LawSocietyofKe @AmnestyKenya @ckanjama @Davji @MiskellahMD #FreeDrObwaka #FreeCounselKinyanjui

This is Dr. Joe Obwaka, an 83-year-old Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. He has taught generations of medical practitioners and continues to practice in both private and public hospitals. Early this morning, he was unlawfully arrested despite existing court orders granting anticipatory bail. Yes, a legal dispute exists within the Kenya Hospital Association (Nairobi Hospital), and the matter has not yet been determined by the court. The regime cannot weaponise law enforcement agencies for political mileage. #FreeDrObwaka

BREAKING NEWS 🛑 Comrade Boniface Ogutu Akach has been declared innocent and has been freed by Kisumu Law Courts. The magistrate in her ruling has stated that Mr Akach is a victim of abductions and has no case to answer on the alleged trumped up charges of obstruction. Power to the people✊

Dear State… WRONG MOVE on this one. To lay false accusations against a senior KHA Board member so as to take control of the board? REALLY? Wrong move. Don’t mess with DOCTORS! #FreeDrJobObwaka Tomorrow we will be all in court to see 1. Who is the complainant. 2. What are the accusations. Don’t return us to the Kamata Kamata Fridays of Mzee Moi. Let the old man rest in peace!

Dr Job Obwaka is a decorated obstetrician and a leader at the Nairobi Hospital. He was abducted at 9am by the police and his phone confiscated and switched off. All this in pursuit of a determined effort by senior officials in Government to grab the land on which the hospital is built. We must stop these people on the ballot in August, 2027. It is WANTAM!

Dr Job Obwaka, a decorated obstetrician and senior leader at The Nairobi Hospital, was abducted around 9:00am this Saturday morning by police officers. His phone was confiscated and switched off, sparking widespread concern for his safety. Dr Obwaka had anticipated his potential arrest amid an ongoing dispute over the hospital’s management and land ownership and had already secured anticipatory bail to avoid detention. This appears connected to allegations of a powerful push to seize control of The Nairobi Hospital and the valuable land it owns. Drawing from patterns in similar high-stakes business conflicts, there are fears that Obwaka could face coercion, including beatings, humiliation, or pressure to surrender Nairobi Hospital interests to a powerful man. He is the latest victim to follow this pattern. In August 2023, the sugar billionaire Jaswant Singh Rai (chairman of Kabras Sugar and related firms) was abducted in Nairobi’s Kilimani area. He had earlier defied Ruto, and was told to choose death or handover his interest in Mumias Sugar. He was abducted, tortured, and threatened, after which he handed over his interests upon being released. In late 2024, businessman Benson Sande Ndeta (founder of Savannah Clinker) expressed interest in acquiring Bamburi Cement. Someone who is building avoidable housing, and the main steel and cement supplier, wanted to buy Bamburi. Ndeta was arrested, detained, and told to keep off, but he refused. He was then charged with eight counts of fraud. Then, after giving up his bid to buy Bamburi, the charges against him were magically dropped. These cases highlight a disturbing pattern: individuals challenging powerful interests in major deals often encounter enforced disappearances, detention, or other pressures that lead to conceding. All three arrests have one thing in common, he gets what he wants, even if it means, abducting, torturing, or even killing anyone who stands in his way. There is a class of privileged Kenyans who think their money will save them from this level of impunity. Your money will not save you if we don’t reclaim Kenya and send this greedy man home. This is a man who doesn’t believe that even God can stop him. He wanted to steal land in State House by claiming he was building a Ksh 2 billion church, before the courts stopped him. As you demand to have Dr Obwaka released, shout even louder for everyone who doesn’t have a voters card to urgently get one. All those illegal immigrants he is registering might vote but the will of the Kenyan people shall prevail.

Fare thee well Mugambi Kiai Today we bid our earthly farewell to Mugambi Kiai, my friend and comrade. Mugambi was one of those rare people who made courage look natural. He defended human rights, democracy, and freedom of expression with conviction, energy, and grace. When others hesitated, he stepped forward. When silence was easier, he spoke. But beyond his public courage, Mugambi was warm, affable, and generous in spirit. He made people feel seen, heard, and encouraged. To know him was to witness both strength and kindness in one person. I will miss his friendship deeply, and so will many who were privileged to work alongside him. We have lost a role model and an indefatigable defender of freedom. Fare thee well, my friend and comrade. May your soul rest in eternal peace. Gitobu Imanyara

Today, on World Social Justice Day we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to justice, dignity and human rights for the people of Mukuru. At Mukuru Community Justice Centre, social justice is not just a slogan it is daily action. Mr. President @WilliamsRuto, allow me to reemphasise one such idea - the Persons With Disabilities Act 2025. It has been law for almost a year and is yet to be operationalised. Delayed formulation of regulations means people with disabilities, their parents, and caregivers are yet to benefit from this Act. Despite countless efforts, no one is sharing clear information, political goodwill seems to be lost, and this low-hanging fruit continues to rot. Sisi ni walemavu lakini kura zetu hazina ulemavu. #VIP
