@iAnonPatriot I turn 35 this year and it will also be my 11th anniversary. It's weird being in the minority looking out at everyone else being... Dysfunctional.

@drantbradley I have seen a lot of grandstanding about per pupil spending going up in various areas. I know that some funding Is based on enrollment but not all, stands to reason the denominator simply went down.

🧵 My Latest: America is quietly shutting down elementary schools all over the country. California, Texas, Georgia, New Jersey, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and so on. Not one school here or there. Entire waves of closures. And almost nobody wants to say the real reason why.

@AndrewYang No, apparently we are just going to import more foreign students because the university revenues and staff employment are what truly matters.

@robkhenderson New hypothesis. You will never meet a modern socialist who grew up on a dirt road. The gray area is a dirt/gravel driveway... Work in progress.

@robkhenderson The angle that never gets discussed enough is the impact on employers in other industries who were paying at or just above or below the new minimum.

"The Seattle increase, mandating a $20.76 hourly wage for restaurant workers, led to several closings...The owner of the Bebop Waffle Shop told the press that the mandate would cost her an extra $32,000 a year. 'Where do I make up that money?' she asked." city-journal.org/article/restau…

If you could be born in any year and country, but you would be randomly assigned to parents somewhere other than the top 1% of the income distribution, when and where would it be? In others, you wouldn't be born to a king or billionaire, but you could be poor or middle class

There is no “funding issue” in public education. The US has the most well-funded educational system in the world (with nothing to show for it) $18,000 per pupil/yr Some states it’s $30,000+ There are cave classrooms in China that outperform us. Where’s it all going?

@robkhenderson My grandparents were married for 50 years before my grandfather died. He once punched a priest for making my grandmother cry, she could have had as many bank accounts as she wanted.

You often see these kind of comments when people are exposed to these data. I always think, though, if a woman today were banned from opening a bank account or owning a home, would she really become more eager to marry a man?

At first glance, this seems like a division between the working class and the managerial class, but it's not quite that simple. There are engineers and surgeons on the Republican side. What we're really witnessing here is a split between those who work (miners, engineers, surgeons) and those who mostly pretend to work (yoga instructors, film industry workers, social scientists).

“When you adjust for inflation, Congress members make 31% less.” This is wild because Congress and endless spending is why there is inflation. “Arsonists talking about the problem of fires,” is the summary of our time.
