@darwintojesus Purpose can be bestowed only by Something outside the entity whose “purpose” is in question. I have a purpose for my car but not for myself. I even have a purpose for what I do, but not for my own existence—by definition. (Likewise, God Himself can have no “purpose”—He just is.)

This is what atheism is really about. It’s not about reason, or evidence… it’s about “freedom.” Which makes no sense either because on naturalism there’d be determinism… but who cares about that right.

Man is made in the image of God in the sense that he is able to think, feel and act like God. In other words, he is personal. This is what makes man different from the rest of creation. God has created other creatures in His image who are invisible and we know them as angels.

Good without God? No. Only God is the ultimate source, grounding & definition of all goodness. Without an absolute & unchanging Moral Law Giver, morality becomes subjective, changing over time & varying by culture. Morality/goodness becomes a matter of personal preference.

Just because something looks good to us, it doesn’t mean that it’s good for us. The precept “Do what thou wilt” proposed by Alister Crowley is widespread in Western culture & has corroded the self-restraint people once had as a result of God & the Bible. We need to return to God.

@metathomist @autocorrect2_0 Your original post assumes agreement on Scripture. If you disagree with parts of Scripture, that’s a different issue—but you don’t say Scripture doesn’t teach it, then rule out the passages that do.

They were a Greek speaking city. They spoke Greek. They had the scriptures. This they used the Septuagint. I already answered second your contention in my reply. It also assumes the very thing in question, you have to assume the book of acts is Gods word to also include it in the scriptures you test. This verse does not demonstrate the doctrine of sola scriptura in any way.
