In any serious emergency, US oil reserves could become nationalized to keep prices low. Not that I think any of this will happen by the way. But at the end of the day, the US having massive oil reserves through fracking, no matter how you cut it, makes the US less dependent upon foreign countries for energy. Truthfully, I think there is a great argument to be made that our war in Iran is actually more about cutting China off from their oil supplies than it is about securing middle east oil.

@JingoVj1 Nobody should every fear us in the long-term. We have no commitment and the political will is not there. In the short term though, I think there is a lot of reason to fear. I mean we took out their leadership entirely in less than a week.
