@AT&T will enter the customer information incorrectly so that they are not responsible for paying off the balance of the customer’s phone but instead, we’ll send them a promotional gift card in place of not paying off the customers balance

@ATT this is how AT&T gets over on their customers when you’re switching phone service and you send your phone to them. They will enter the wrong information on purpose so that you do not get money back from your phone.
